About Whiskey
Are you sitting at home thinking gosh my home needs a bit of chaos and some laughs in it? Well if you answer yes then look no further – introducing Whiskey!
This happy cheeky loving furbaby is looking for his forever home
Whiskey is a 2 year and 7 month old Dachshund who came into care as a exbreeding dog.
So a few points on him that may sound similar for anyone who has ever owned a Dachshund.
1. Dachshund pinned
When you are relaxing watching a good movie on TV – Whiskey will fill your chair and lap with a Dachshund pile! He is like a lap magnet – he loves to curl up on you / around you and sleep while you watch your TV.
2. Dachshund ego
Whiskey is very dog friendly – he is currently with dogs of all sizes a, shapes and ages – Whiskey has been known to try and hump another dog when first meeting but a quick NO and he will pull up very quickly.
3. He will give you sass to get away with things
Whiskey is extremely lovely but also cheeky and will not hesitate in giving a head tilt or puppy dog eyes to get what he wants.
4. Everyone says you can’t just have one Dachshund
Whiskey very much loves hanging out with another dashie - who wouldn’t?
5. Exercise
Whiskey loves to go for a walk daily – he likes a good 30 – 45 min stroll – he is good on the lead but has been known to pull on the lead if excited or sees a bird
6. Your Little Shadow
Be prepared for him to follow you everywhere – please note bathrooms are not off limits to Whiskey and has no problem stating that he doesn’t believe in privacy for you.
7. The Security system
Whiskey like a true dashie (no DNA Tests for this little black and tan duck!) Whiskey will alert you from time to time that a butterfly flapped its wings in Japan. He will also protect you with his life from the mail man and any courier driver who arrives – please note he does stop barking when you tell him too, but of course this is something that all Dachshund owners need to be constant aware of and know that Dachshund’s are vocal.
8. Appetite
A Dachshund’s favorite food is ……… food. Any food they will happily eat but we need to be mindful like any Dachshund of his back so we need to ensure he continues on his healthy food routine and does have daily exercise.
Whiskey is a 7.6kg boy.
9. Time for Bed
Whiskey of course again like a true dashie want to sleep in your bed….. Not his – so we would be recommending either having a king bed or purchasing one asap – he is happy to share your bed with you, especially if he gets to sleep under a blanket.
10. There will be pee
(while Whiskey is toilet trained, and can use a doggy door, he will always have a reserve tank of pee to mark when he first arrives at a new home). Please also note this is especially relevant with clause 5 exercise.
11. Kids
Whiskey is great with kids – why would he not when it means more attention and cuddles for him
12. Stairs
Like any Dachshund we are looking for a home for Whiskey with no major stairs and of course ramps / stairs in the house for him to be able to access couches / beds etc.
13. Cats
Whiskey is not tested with a cat but believe he would bark at them and honestly it could go either way of chase or being their friend.
14. Time away from his humans
Whiskey is no different to nearly every other Dachshund – he loves having humans around him and get cuddles as well as exercise – being home for more than 4 hours a day by himself would not be suitable – they thrive on human company.
Whiskey is currently living with his foster mum who does go to work for a few days a week but he’s very happy with another dog who is active with him, that he can hang with and play with – the more chaos the happier Whiskey is

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption - each bio will state if available for adoption - please check before applying.
