About Clay
Introducing Clay!
Clay is a Wolfhound x born approx 10th February 2025.. That's right, this gorgeous, long-legged fella is still only a puppy!
Clay was brought in to us as an unmicrochipped stray & sadly no one came looking for him.
Since being at the facility, Clay has been your typical energetic & enthusiastic puppy. He's still learning his manners but he knows how to "sit", "gentle" & "lay down".. as long as you have treats for payment. He's a super affectionate boy and loves to stand on his back feet so he can wrap his arms around you in a full body embrace (be warned, this also make him in face smooching range). Being a pup he will need a family to continue with his training & socialising, to ensure he continues to grow into a well-mannered young man. Like most large breed pups Clay doesn't know how big he is and he may accidentally knock over young children out of excitement.
Clay had mixed results with his dog testing. When tested with a boisterous male puppy he was initially very excited to meet him, then became scared and tried to climb into his handlers arms for protection. We then tested with an older male Chihuahua which gave the same reaction as the puppy. He was very excited to meet a female toy Poodle and seemed the most comfortable with her.. even when she was growling at him. The only "bad" reaction we saw was when a boisterous dog was in his face and jumped on his head, then Clay snapped at him to say "no". We believe he has the potential to live with other calmer, smaller dogs, but he may be more comfortable being the spoilt only "child" at home while he continues his socialisation. In saying that, if you have a friendly dog, we would need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Clay seemed interested in meeting our cats & pocket pets, but no aggression was seen & he was easy to distract. We believe he could be suitable to live with cats if given a slow & controlled introduction to them. We feel if he is to live with pocket pets that they be caged and not free roaming.
Clay has shown no signs of separation anxiety or food aggression since being at the facility.
Clay's adoption fee is $600 and includes his desexing, lifetime registration, vaccination and he is up to date with flea & worm treatment.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
