About Billy
Billy’s story began before he was even born. His mum was saved from a New South Wales pound while heavily pregnant, and not long after arriving in care, she gave birth to a beautiful litter of pups, including our gorgeous boy Billy.
Billy has a mild neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). This means the part of his brain that controls coordination didn’t fully develop before birth. In Billy’s case, it’s very mild and only noticeable when he’s eating, he might wobble or look a little unsteady at times, but it doesn’t cause him pain, and it doesn’t stop him from living a full, happy, and active life.
Billy is a happy, friendly pup who adores people and absolutely loves children. He’s great with other dogs and is also cat-friendly.
He’d thrive in a home with:
• A large secure yard to play and explore
• A family who enjoys including him in daily life and fun activities
• Another friendly dog for company
• A Patio or Pergola for shelter
Billy is not suited to working roles due to his condition, but he will make an amazing companion for an active family looking for a loyal mate to share adventures with.
Please only apply if you reside within 4 hours of Shepparton.
Medical notes
Diagnosis: Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH)
Description:
Cerebellar Hypoplasia is a congenital neurological condition in which the cerebellum, the part of the brain responsible for coordination and balance, does not fully develop before birth. This results in mild to moderate uncoordinated movements or tremors, depending on severity.
Billy’s Case:
Billy’s CH is very mild. It presents as a slight wobble or unsteady motion, primarily noticeable when he is eating or focusing on fine movements. He has no pain or functional limitations, and the condition is non-progressive, meaning it will not worsen over time.
Prognosis:
Excellent. Dogs with mild CH live normal, healthy lifespans and adapt well as they grow. Billy does not require any medication or ongoing treatment for this condition.
