Meet Mochi (formerly Jhito) - Owner assisted adoption

Mochi is looking for a very particular type of home, and we want to be completely transparent about her personality and needs so the right match can be found.

Mochi is an extremely independent cat who prefers to simply exist alongside people rather than interact closely with them. She is not affectionate, does not enjoy cuddles or handling, and generally only seeks human attention around feeding time. If pushed beyond her comfort zone, she can swipe or bite to make her boundaries very clear.

She has also shown that she does not enjoy sharing her environment with other cats and has not bonded with the resident cat in her current home. At times, when unhappy or frustrated, Mochi has displayed inappropriate toileting behaviours, including weeing or pooing outside the litter tray.

Because of this, Mochi will need an understanding, adult-only home with somebody experienced in reading cat behaviour and willing to accept her for who she is without expectations of affection or companionship. She is not suited to children or a busy household environment.

While Mochi is not an easy cat, we know there are people out there who genuinely appreciate independent cats that simply want a safe space to live life on their own terms. She may never be a lap cat, but she still deserves a home where her boundaries are respected and her needs are understood.

This is an owner-assisted adoption, and we are focused on finding the right environment for Mochi moving forward.

I CAN FLY TO PERTH!

Flying for a few hours is very important for animals in remote locations because it gives us the opportunity to be adopted. Talk to SAFE about flying me to Perth.
