About Honey
Say hello to Shenzi, the ray of sunshine you never knew you needed!
If you're looking for a dog with personality, look no further- Shenzi is bursting with it! At 1.5 years old, she's got energy to spare, a heart full of love, and a wonderful way of expressing it all. Life is just so exciting for her, sometimes her body can hardly keep up with her joy!
That said, all that zest can be a little overwhelming for her, too. She's been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and will need to be on lifelong medication to help her manage her big feelings and continue growing into the confident, happy dog we know she can be.
Her new family will need to be dedicated to continuing her training, as while she has a heart of gold it's under a bubby exterior and low-focused behavior. She's been working with our behaviour team, and she's beginning to understand that not everyone wants a 23kg dog leaping onto their chest alllll the time. Trust us, she's trying SO hard, and we know that with additional training Shenzi has the potential to be a 15/10 dog (as she's already 10/10!). And our staff here are more than happy to chat with you about what she's learnt.
Shenzi would be great with dog-savvy children and older, as long as they don't mind her rambunctious energy. She'd also love to find her home with another canine friend, however another boisterous dog would be too much for Shenzi. She's looking for a Yin to her Yang; a calmer dog that has the patience to handle her energy and teach her the beauty of being peaceful.
One more thing to know: Shenzi really, really loves company. When left alone, she can get a bit anxious, and sometimes that big energy turns into "creative redecorating" (aka, light destruction). It's not her fault- she just hasn't quite figured out what to do with herself yet when the house is too quiet. Because of this, she'd do best in a home where someone is around more often than not, or where she can slowly learn that alone time isn't the end of the world.
She also needs plenty of enrichment, think puzzle toys, sniffy walks, training games, or anything else that helps keep her brain and body busy. She's not just looking for a couch; she's looking for a kindred soul, and a home where her big heart can truly shine.
If you have the playful spirit of a toddler and the patience of a kindergarten teacher, come and adopt Shenzi! She's ready to bound into your lap and your heart!
Weight: 23kg Xx
