About Tabasco
Tabasco is an extremely loving, playful, and social kitten who has been living in a foster home with children and other cats since coming into our care in August.
Tabasco arrived into our care with some health concerns, which have now been thoroughly examined and tested.
Should you be interested in adopting Tabasco, please thoroughly read the information listed in the 'Medical history' section of his profile (below) and view the videos demonstrating Tabasco's mobility issues before applying.

Medical notes
Tabasco WCC-C-08-25-013, being a 5-week-old ginger tabby kitten, presented to Illawarra Animal Hospital as a stray on 11/08/2025.
Upon presentation, Tabasco was observed to be very unsteady in both hind legs. Radiographs were taken to assess for any damage, but there were no abnormalities detected. The suspicion at this stage was a neurological issue, and Tabasco was recommended to be monitored by the foster carers, while he was still developing.
Tabasco was reassessed on 19/08/2025. He has gained substantial weight, but the hind limbs were still not fully coordinated. He was also suspected to have some early signs of cat flu, and begun medication.
Tabasco was reassessed on 27/08/2025. He had started to use the litter tray and presented less ataxic, however the symptoms are still present.
Toxoplasmosis and FIV testing results for Tabasco have returned negative. Tabasco’s ataxia is likely caused by neurological issues developed in the womb.
Quality of life does not seem to be affected. Tabasco remains a happy, healthy, perfectly functional kitten (albeit a bit wobbly) who plays well and uses his litter tray with no issues.

Adoption details
Please do not apply to adopt via our animals' PetRescue profile.
Follow the links below to be directed to the Wollongong City Council website, and find your preferred animal's online profile.
Once in the online profile, scroll down and click the link to complete an adoption application. Once received, a member of our team will be in touch to discuss your application and suitability for your preferred animal.
If we deem the animal to be suitable for your home and lifestyle, an in-person meet and greet may be organised. Should your meet and greet be a success, you can take your new furry friend home that day or following their desexing surgery. Our team will manage all your animal's paperwork, including ownership and vaccination documentation.
