Harris is one of our special Brave Litter kittens — a group of tiny wildlings who came into care having never known human kindness. While his siblings have started to find courage, Harris remains the shyest of the bunch, still learning that humans can be safe and kind.
Harris may be the most timid of our Brave litter, but his heart is every bit as special
He had a tough start, spending an extra 24 hours alone in the outside world before being caught — a scary experience that left its mark. Even now, sudden movements or unfamiliar sounds send him scurrying for cover. He’ll hiss when approached or if something surprises him, but it’s all fear, not aggression — he’s just a little soul still figuring out the world.
Harris’s carers are working gently with him each day, helping him build trust at his own pace. He’s beginning to enjoy playtime, especially with swishy string toys, and creamy treat tubes are his biggest motivator. Stroking him while he’s eating or offering treats from your fingers helps him learn that hands bring good things.
He isn’t a fan of being picked up or cuddled yet — but with patience, consistency, and time, he will get there. The right home for Harris will be one that understands socialising a timid kitten is a journey — one filled with quiet wins, slow progress, and a lot of heart.
A calm, predictable home (without loud children or fast movements) will suit Harris best. His adopter will need to continue his socialisation, helping him associate people with comfort, safety, and love.
