Darcy is a super sweet little puppy who happens to be deaf — but that won't stop him from living his best life with the right family to support him! This beautiful boy is looking for a loving, dedicated home where he'll be cherished and given the tools to thrive.
Deaf dogs can learn the same commands as regular dogs, but through hand signals, visual cues and positive reinforcement training. Please tell us in your application what methods you would use to train and support Darcy to flourish in your home.
Right now, Darcy's needs are simple: cuddling with his people, exploring his surroundings, and soaking up all the love he can get. He's oh-so-sweet, friendly and extremely lovable — you'll fall head over heels!
Darcy's ideal person has plenty of time for cuddles, play sessions, and helping him navigate his new world with confidence.
His perfect match would include:
• Time: This is a very small, young, deaf pup. He must live with someone who is home most of the day (active retirees, stay-at-home or work-from-home would be ideal. Full-time workers won't be suited. If you work, please include details of your work hours per day).
• Safe spaces: A secure area for the times you're not home, along with a very secure yard
• Commitment to training: Willingness to learn about and work with his deafness using visual communication methods - please include how you will support Darcy's specific needs
• Socialisation opportunities: Regular, positive experiences with other dogs, new people, and different environments once fully vaccinated, to enable Darcy to grow into a confident, well-adjusted adult dog.
Yorkies like to be involved in everything you do! They don't generally need a huge amount of exercise if given lots of interaction: playtime at home and a walk every day or couple of days (once he's old enough) will keep Darcy happy and healthy.
If you can provide adorable Darcy with a happy, safe, and devoted home, please follow the instructions above to apply. We'll give preference to applicants who explain in their application how they plan to incorporate Darcy's deafness into daily life, and/or who have experience with deaf dogs.
This special little soul is waiting for his special someone!
MEDICAL NOTES

ADOPTION DETAILS
Our adoption process includes a meet-and-greet with you (and any dog already in your household, along with their vaccination card); a property check and a 2 week trial period to ensure your pup is the right fit for your home. Please ensure that all members of your household are aware and in agreement with adopting a pup before filling in an application form.
