About Darrah
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- Children over 10 years
- Enjoy a greyhound that loves longer dog walks
Darrah is a gorgeous, well-behaved girl waiting to shower you with affection and steal into your heart!
She is always friendly towards other people and when she’s in a home setting where she is comfortable, will be very excited to meet new faces, greeting them enthusiastically. Darrah has lots of energy for walks and can easily go on a 45-60-minute walk daily, however, she is relatively relaxed inside the house. She walks well on a leash, although she likes to stop and sniff the bushes often. She is still learning her doggie social skills with other breed dogs and can become timid or occasionally skittish. She will gladly have a sniff and say hello with some encouragement, although she gets especially spooked by big dogs off-lead or dogs that approach too quickly or enthusiastically.
Darrah is very affectionate and loves attention and a scratch and will be happy to cuddle if she is allowed on the couch. She has limited interest in toys and travels well in a car. She is continuing to adjust to noisy stimulus such as busy streets and can be easily distracted, however she usually copes well. Darrah can easily amuse herself and will sit contentedly in her bed but also loves to follow you around if you are up and about. She sleeps perfectly through the night! And she is even okay around penned chickens!
Darrah has been in foster care as a solo dog and so would be fine in a home without other dogs, but her sweet nature means we think she would also be fine with other greyhounds or gentle dogs. She will make a wonderful best friend and loyal companion.
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]
