About Onaka
Are you looking for a handsome, polite, and intelligent companion who will fill your home with quiet curiosity and bursts of playful energy? Then meet Onaka, a truly special cat waiting for the right person to see past his initial shyness.
Meet Onaka,
He is a cat of routine and quiet affection. He is incredibly inquisitive and curious, always observing his surroundings and figuring out what you're up to. While he's reserved and takes his time to get to know you, once he warms up, he's your loyal shadow! He will happily follow you around the house and has a fantastic memory for his name, often coming when called.
He has a classic cat-like independence but still loves to be near his person, often choosing to sleep right on the bed with you at night. He’s recently been getting better with snuggles, a testament to his growing trust. He is also a champion litterbox user; great with the litterbox is an understatement!
Onaka is a boy who likes to move! When the mood strikes, he loves to run VERY fast. Think of him as a tiny, indoor sprinter. He is very playful and his intelligence means he needs enrichment and interactive toys to keep his sharp mind engaged.
As for food, Onaka is a hungry boy who will happily eat anything you put in front of him. This is great for keeping him happy, but be warned: he has discerning taste and should avoid chicken.
Onaka's ideal home is one that respects his boundaries. He is not ready to be picked up or smothered. He needs a home where his space is respected, especially while he continues to build trust. For this reason, he is not suitable to be around children or anyone who might disregard his boundaries.
He is an excellent candidate for a multi-pet household, as he is great with other cats and will even tolerate dogs as long as they are calm and mostly ignore him.
🚨 Mandatory Requirement: Onaka must be an indoor-only cat. Under no circumstances can he be let outside, this is critical for his safety and successful adoption.

Adoption details
Our adoption process is as follows:
1. Submit an adoption application via our website at www.rescuecatsofmelbourne.com.au/adopt
2. We will be in touch with you within 48 hours if we wish to progress your application.
3. A meet and greet will then be organised so that you can meet your potential new family member!
4. Upon a successful meet and greet, an adoption day will be set for you to come and collect your new family member and sign all required paperwork
All of our cats come de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated, worm treated and with a clean bill of health.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
The rescue group has removed this pet and it is no longer available for adoption.
