Meet Locki,
This handsome fella is Locki — a unique blend of gentle soul and playful spirit, looking for a special someone to call his own. Locki is the kind of dog who marches to the beat of his own drum. He's independent, a little sensitive, and perfectly content doing his own thing… until it’s time for a walk, a game, or a cuddle — then he lights up like a firework!
He's friendly and affectionate, always happy to greet you with a wagging tail, but he also knows how to chill and enjoy the quiet moments. Locki can be a little aloof at times, but that just adds to his charm.
Locki would thrive in a calm and quiet home, with either experienced or first time dog owners. He's a chill boy who is content, easy going and smart. He’s wonderfully adaptable and would suit a variety of households — as long as he gets his daily dose of adventure and affection.
Ideal Home: Locki is suitable to live in a townhouse, standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Family: Locki is open to meet kids of any age - he's gentle and lives life at a leisurely pace.
Locki is fine to live with people who work full-time and he shows no signs of separation anxiety. He is independent and able to spend time in the yard on his own, but on occasion would also like to be inside with his new family too.
Furry Friends: Locki is open to meet other dogs. During his dog assessment he got very excited when he saw the other dog. When face to face with the other dog, sniffs were exchanged, play bows were done by both dogs and both dogs enjoyed each others company. Locki is also respectful of other dogs - he isn't too playful and has lovely manners.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are not sure how Locki would be suitable to live with cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Locki would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Locki is very mild-mannered and won't jump on you (unless on very rare occassions).
Locki knows his name and he also knows commands such as sit and shake.
He isn't overly food motivated - but having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would still be a good idea. When he does take treats, he is very gentle when doing so. Even without treats he is very attentive to command ques.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Locki has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep him healthy and content. Locki doesn't show much interest in toys - he prefers cuddles, spending time with his handlers or personal play with his handlers.
Locki walks well on a lead with very minimal pulling. He is fine to be walked on either a collar or harness.
Staff Comments: Locki is a sweet, kind and gentle boy who thrives on your love & attention. He is not demanding, he's quiet & he enjoys cuddles and a comfy bed. His energy isn't too overwhelming either making him a real easy going dog.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
