💛 Personality
Gentle, affectionate, and endlessly loyal, Dowsy is a true people-dog with a bubbly, easy-going nature. He greets the day with happy tail wags and full-body butt wiggles, his own version of zoomies, and absolutely melts for belly rubs and cuddles. They will make his whole day! While he lives for human affection, he’s also rediscovered his playful side, enjoying games of catch and squeaky toys before curling up for a long snooze. Dowsy is calm and trusting, happiest when he’s simply hanging out with his favourite people or lounging nearby.

Dowsy gets along well with most smaller and female dogs and occasionally with gentle medium-sized ones. He’s not overly interested in playtime with other dogs and would rather observe than join in. With large or assertive male dogs, he can feel uncomfortable and may react if provoked, whether it’s a growl or a defensive greeting. He hasn’t been tested with cats or other animals, but he’s unbothered by birds and noisy environments. With humans, however, he shines, always friendly, trusting, and full of heart.

Although a perfect Labrador, he’s got his quirks. He’s not very food motivated unless its any meat. He’ll leave bones, peanut butter, veggies and fruits (understandable!) and his kibble sometimes untouched, but adores water.

🎓 Training
Dowsy is fully toilet trained and perfectly behaved when left alone: no barking, chewing, or mischief. He’s the kind of dog you can trust with your slippers (though he might gently relocate one to the couch while you’re out!). He knows his basic commands like sit, come here, stop, no, wait and responds best to gentle praise and positive reinforcement. He is also crate trained and once his excitement wears off and his tail stops wagging he’ll curl up and sleep. He’s happiest when his routine includes a short walk or playtime, followed by one of his signature long naps (he can easily sleep 15+ hours a day!).

However, on walks, Dowsy is a puller, so he does best with a Halti collar and consistent handling. Tiring him out before a walk is the best way to stop him from pulling you to every tree, but he is also the best companion to run/jog with. While Dowsy isn’t highly food-motivated, or the smartest, his eagerness to please makes him a quick learner. His recall could use a gentle refresh, but he’s a quick learner who thrives on positive reinforcement and kind direction.

🏡 Dowsy’s Perfect Home
Dowsy would love a calm home where he can be part of the family. He’s wonderfully adaptable, equally content in a small apartment or a house with a yard, as long as he’s included in daily life. He’s completely fine being left alone during work hours and will greet you with a non-stop wagging tail (and possibly one slipper relocated to the couch).

Because of his size and strength, he’s best suited to families with children aged 5 and up, who can share in his cuddles without being knocked over by his enthusiastic tail wagging. An only-pet home would be ideal, though he could adjust to living with a gentle, compatible dog after gradual introductions. Dowsy isn’t bothered by noise, doesn’t try to escape, and doesn’t need high fences, he’s a loyal homebody who loves the comfort of familiar surroundings. A 30–60 minute walk or short play session each day keeps him happy and healthy, after which he’s more than ready for a long nap. He’s the perfect mix of playful companion and relaxed couch buddy.
