About Cricket
💖 The Home Cricket Needs
Cricket is looking for a family who can offer more than just love – he needs time, patience and commitment to help him thrive. His perfect adopters will:
• Spend quality time daily – whether that’s play, training or simply relaxing together.
• Provide mental and physical stimulation – toys, walks, adventures or activities suited to their energy level.
• Offer a safe and secure environment – indoors with a warm bed and an outdoor access that is fully fenced.
• Commit to healthy nutrition and vet care – regular check-ups, vaccinations, parasite prevention and a good diet.
• Continue positive training and guidance – using kind, reward-based methods to help them learn and feel safe.
🐕 Lifestyle Match
Cricket will do best with adopters who:
- That have another resident desexed dog (not senior or puppy) or people home majority of the time.
• Have a fairly active lifestyle.
• Calm and patient energy.
• Enjoy outdoor activities.
• No young children under 12 years old.
• Ability to manage a larger breed.
• Willingness to exercise daily.
• Comfortable with dog indoors.
• Enjoy regular training and interaction.
• Enjoy walks and hikes.
🏠 Other Pets
Cricket does need another friendly desexed medium to large size dog, as he enjoys other dogs’ company, and would need a housemate that would be happy to join in with play. He likes his own space when eating, so is needs to feed in a crate or separate room, like the laundry. He has spent time with small, medium and large breed dogs. Cricket is tested with cats and has not chased other animals, including the goats, chickens and indoor galah he currently lives with. He’s never snapped or attempted to bite; he just avoids.
🐾 Ongoing Needs
To ensure Cricket has the best life, adopters must be ready to:
• Provide a highly nutritional diet.
• Continue training with no shouting, and clear calm instruction and praise.
• Continue toilet training with regular toilet breaks and outdoor access.
• Provide daily exercise suitable to his age and breed.
• Provide ongoing enrichment (puzzle toys, training games, scent work, etc.).
• Make him part of the family, giving him the option to come inside when his family is home and to sleep at night.
• Be a calm, patient owner to create confidence in new situations.
• Continue socialisation with new people to encourage an outgoing personality.
🐶 Personality Traits
Cricket is an incredibly sweet and affectionate pup, and when he gets excited he slips into cheeky puppy mode. He has met many dogs while in care and is always a playful, gentle sweetheart. Cricket is naturally submissive and enjoys the company of other dogs, but he does have strong feelings about sharing food, so needs to be fed in his own space. Out in the world, Cricket can be a little reserved when faced with new sights or sounds. With some treats and a bit of time to decompress, he relaxes easily and shows his bright, curious nature. He is learning to walk nicely on lead and has made great progress. He is a loving, playful young pup who brings joy, silliness, and a whole lot of affection wherever he goes.
⚕️Health History
Cricket came to our rescue with front leg knuckling, this condition caused him to walk on the top of his paws instead of the pads and was caused by poor nutrition and rapid growth. With a proper diet and controlled exercise, this condition has resolved, and no long term effects are expected. Support from our trainer and nutritionist can be given. It has been advised by our vets that we don't get Cricket desexed until 12 months of age to give him a chance to finish growing first, a veterinary letter will be provided supporting this. Pyrenees Animal Rescue will cover the desexing cost at one of our partner vets, Cricket will only be adopted to a family willing and able to stay in contact with us until after his desexing and that can attend on of our partner vets. This can be discussed on application.

If you believe one of our animals would be a good match for your home please send us a detailed email us with some information about the people and any other animals in your home as well as the type of lifestyle you can offer a new rescue pet.
We are volunteerswho run the rescue around families, paid employment and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require you to travel to meet the animal you are looking to adopt. For dog adoptions, any other dogs in your home musr attend the meet and greet, this enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
