About Toby
From a Sign That Said ‘Help Me’ to 12 Months of Healing, Toby Is Ready
When he first came to us, he was found tied to a pole with a sign that read: “Please help me. I’m sorry.”
He was shut down. Scared to move. Scared to be touched.
Whatever had happened to him before, it had left him broken, unsure if people could be safe again.
So we gave him time.
No expectations, no pressure, just quiet company and soft voices.
And slowly, Toby started to trust again.
He’s still a sensitive soul, but he’s come so far.
These days, he’ll race you to the tennis ball, launch himself into the water with a huge splash, and zoom around like he’s finally learning what joy feels like.
He still has moments when he gets nervous, something small might spook him, and when that happens, we’re just there to gently remind him that he’s okay.
And here’s the part that breaks our hearts a little:
It’s been 12 months since we last shared Toby’s story.
Twelve months of waiting.
Twelve months of being overlooked.
Of watching other dogs find homes while he stays behind.
We see him every day. We see how hard he’s worked to be ready.
And we believe, with everything we have, that there’s someone out there for him.
Someone patient. Someone calm. Someone who understands sensitive dogs and has experience helping them feel safe, because Toby needs a home with people who know how to handle his special needs and won’t be overwhelmed by his journey.
We don’t give up on dogs like Toby.
We believe every life is worth the time, the effort, and the love, no matter how long it takes.
And right now, we need your help to find him a home.
Please share his story. Tell your friends.
Help us make this Toby’s year.

Adoption details
Save-A-Dog Scheme operates as an adoption agency for our dogs and cats. We spend a substantial amount of time getting to know our animals and we try to match each animal's needs with the new home's needs. We don't work on the same principle as purchasing from a shop or on a 'first come first served' basis. When you visit us, you can be sure we'll do our best to work with you to help find the right companion animal for your home and lifestyle.
