About Benji
Hi! I’m Benji and I’m an affectionate and pretty handsome 3 yo Schnauzer mix. Mixed with what, you say? I don't have the faintest idea, but some of my ARK friends say there’s Border Terrier and Kelpie in me.
I was born on 13 August 2022, weigh only 15.8 kgs and have a lot of love to give.
I know some basic commands and am always open to learning. Sometimes I even put on a cute show when you ask me to beg! I love showing off this talent when I get excited. I am house-trained and know I have to ask permission to join you on the couch or bed before I jump up.
I walk quite well on a lead and when I’m free to roam around, I have pretty good recall, even though I've only been with my foster parents a short while.
I came from a family with kids so am used to them being around. I can get a bit exuberant so am probably not suited to being a playmate for really little children.
Active, intelligent, enthusiastic and people-focused... I would make a great companion. I don’t mind being the only dog at home. But if you do have some other dogs, I would love to take the time to get to know them. It can be hard for a foster dog to adjust to a new home, so I do need time to get along with other doggy friends. I can be a bit protective of what’s mine, so I’d like my new family to understand why I feel that way. Partly, it's because I came from a home where there were young puppies who were always stealing my stuff and partly, it's a stress response to being in a new home.
Please know, however, that I still love being around other doggos, and love to play when I get the chance. There’s also horses at my foster home and I love sharing a paddock walk with them. I’m slowly getting used to the chickens, goats and sheep too!
My foster parents are shift workers and when they leave me at home I’ve learnt to just find a nice cool spot in the shade until they get back.
