About Ruby
Introducing Ruby!
Ruby is a Staffy x born 13th November 2022.
Ruby was brought into the facility as a stray after being dumped at a vet clinic. While she was microchipped the details were out of date. After talking with multiple people we were told that one of her previous owners would be collecting her, however they never returned our numerous attempts to make contact.
Since being at the facility, Ruby has been an incredibly affectionate & sweet girl. When she gets super excited she bounces around in circles and play bows, all while her tail is helicoptering. She knows how to "sit", but usually requires bribery with food/treats.
Ruby tested ok with other dogs, however she is selective of her canine friends. While she has been mostly uninterested in other dogs, she has been very excited in trying to play with a little male French Bulldog, sadly he didn't feel the same way & he tried hiding from her. When meeting another female dog who showed signs of aggression towards her, Ruby did retaliate by barking and growling, however she was easy to distract and was happy to continue walking. It appears that Ruby has had at least 1-2 litters previously, so she has clearly been in the presence of other dogs but this may be the reason she is selective with her companions. We believe she has the potential to live with other dogs, but she may be more comfortable being the spoilt only "child" at home. In saying that, if you have a friendly dog, we would need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Unfortunately Ruby has shown signs of having prey drive, so she will need a home with no small animals such as cats, chickens & rabbits.
Ruby has shown no signs of separation anxiety or food aggression since being at the facility.
Ruby's adoption fee is $500 and includes her desexing, lifetime registration, vaccination and she is up to date with flea & worm treatment.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
