About Champ
Hi! I'm Champ and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR CHAMP
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/QpPR9BCoPmwa7y5G8
NOTE: You are unable to meet Champ until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Champ in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family and not left outside 24/7 with no interaction.
• A doggie companion is a MUST in my new home; I am very timid but having another dog with me helps my confidence and shows me I don't need to be scared of the world and new people.
• I like other dogs my own size but I am a bit scared of bigger dogs - more socialising & positive experiences with bigger dogs is needed.
• A cat may be ok with a slow introduction.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• A family who promises to keep me well-groomed and brush me regularly so I'm always looking and feeling my best
• Lots of love and attention
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and appear scared of kids, It's best I'm given time to grow in confidence before being around kids.
• A quiet & mature family/household - this is what I am used too
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
My best features:
• Very playful (when I'm settled and with my doggie friends)
• Wiggle butt
• Highly food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• Once I get to know you, I love having attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
• I walk well on lead for a young doggo but having daily walks should help me improve my lead skills
Where I need to improve / Training required:
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• As I have not been allowed inside before I am not housetrained yet
• I will be very shy at first, so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time, without forcing me to interact.
• I need a nice quiet home with no young children (under 12 years) As I get easily spooked, I need time and space so I can get used to my new home and learn that I'm safe and loved.
