One-year-old Manuka is young, full of energy, and eager to love. This joyful girl is a quick learner who looks to her people for guidance and thrives when she knows what’s expected of her. She’s already mastered an adorable morning routine of “cheers-ing” your coffee with a little nose boop!

Manuka doesn’t know the meaning of the word enemy. She’s friendly with everyone and loves meeting new friends whether they are dogs or people. She’d be well suited to living with a calm, desexed male dog but would also be perfectly happy as an only pup, making friends on her daily walks instead.

She’s met cats in her temporary foster home and means no harm, but her enthusiasm for close-up sniffing and exuberant nature means that any feline housemates will need to be patient as she learns to respect their personal space.

Brave and adaptable, Manuka is always ready for adventure once she’s comfortable. Whether it’s hopping on your lap in an Uber or catching the tram. She loves attention and would flourish with a family who has time to spend with her or can take her along to the office now and then. While she’s content to amuse herself during the day, she’ll need mental enrichment and playtime to keep her happy.

Manuka is currently enjoying apartment living with her foster dad. She’s taken well to toilet training, using pee pads or fake grass, and would easily transition to using a garden if you have one. She’s proven that apartment living suits her perfectly as long as she gets her daily walks, café outings, and plenty of love but would also be happy in a home with an accessible garden for her to explore.

Her ideal weekend? People-watching for hours at a café, enjoying her favourite pupcup and soaking up cuddles from anyone who’ll offer them. She’s a total cuddle bug who loves burrowing under the covers and will happily be your little shadow, following you from room to room, even waiting patiently outside the shower!

As a young dog, Manuka would love a home with space to run and play when possible. If you have a garden, she’ll need safe indoor/outdoor access and must always be kept inside during warm weather.

Before coming into care, Manuka was treated for an anal prolapse, likely caused by straining during a bout of diarrhoea. Her treatment was successful, and this is not expected to recur. She has also had her nares widened, is desexed, microchipped, and fully up to date with vaccinations and parasite prevention.

Manuka is currently in foster care in Richmond and is taking applications from loving homes in Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.
