Tessa - 10 Year Old Cattle Dog

Tessa is a lovely gentle senior who came into foster care after her elderly owner passed away, and there was no family who could take her. She’s an easy going dog, who seems to have been loved and well looked after. She’s very much an inside-outside dog, so will easily adapt to whatever living arrangements you prefer, whether it’s mostly inside or mostly outside.

She loves to sit by your side, without trying to get on the lounge. Just chilling on her mat is enough for her to be content, though she’ll be extra happy if you give her cuddles and tummy scratches. At present, she’s a bit of a shadow, needing to keep you close to feel safe. She’s not a barker, but will alert you if she feels there’s a threat to your home.

Tessa will sleep through the night, and wait to go outside for toileting.
We don’t think she spent much time outside the backyard, as she’s a bit unsure of the outside world. She’s a little reactive on lead, though she walks really well otherwise, if there are no distractions.

She doesn’t really understand toys, so it’s a learning process to engage her with games. Tessa knows basic commands like 'sit', 'stay', and 'come', although her recall hasn't been tested outside the fenced yard.

Her gentle nature suggests she'd be fine with kids and other dogs, but a meet and greet with any existing pets is essential to ensure a smooth transition. In fact, we think Tessa would love to have a canine companion of her own.

This lovely senior is looking for her forever home. She still has many years to give the right person or family love, loyalty and companionship. If going to a home with an older person, they must have solid family support so that isn’t put at risk of being homeless again.

Tessa is in foster care in Lake Haven, NSW. She is available for adoption interstate. Her adoption fee is $400 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
