About Newman
Newman is a cautious but sweet-natured Spitz mix who takes a little time to warm up to new people but once he does, he becomes affectionate and eager to please, especially if treats are involved. He’s a smart boy who responds well to training and already knows several cues, including sit, stay, go to bed, get in his crate, and even "cut it out" when he's being a bit cheeky!
Newman loves his toys — especially squeaky ones! He’ll play with them until the squeaker wears out... and then keep playing with them anyway. His love for toys is only matched by his love for being around people.
Newman takes time to settle into a new environment, new adopters will have training support available during the process.
🏡 Ideal Home
Newman thrives in a home where he can be the only pet, soaking up all the attention and affection from his humans. He enjoys being close to people, whether that means snuggling up on the couch or just relaxing nearby. A secure outdoor space with a sunny spot to lounge and some toys to play with would make him very happy.
🐾 Energy Level
Newman has a moderate energy level. He does well with two 20–30 minute walks each day — one in the morning and one in the afternoon or evening. Between walks, he’s content to play fetch or lounge around until it’s time to eat. He occasionally gets the zoomies, but that’s just part of his fun-loving nature.
👶 Suitability for Children
Newman would do best in a home with older children. He can get a bit overexcited when meeting people and may jump up to say hello, but he calms down quickly with a little guidance and some well-placed scratches. He responds well to gentle discouragement and enjoys being petted and praised.
🐕 Suitability for Other Pets
While Newman is generally calm around other dogs on walks and in public spaces, he prefers to be the only animal in the household. He isn’t reactive and doesn’t get overly distracted by other dogs, but he’s happiest when he’s the centre of attention at home.
Newman is ready to find a home where he can share his loyalty, love, and a bit of his playful spirit. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate dog to be your one and only, Newman could be the perfect match.

All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
