About Johnny
If you’re looking for a low shedding, super relaxed, couch potato… Johnny is not your guy. This excitable bundle of joy has no concept of personal space and a whole lot of love to give!
Possibly some kind of escapee from a government experiment gone wrong, we think a dash of sheep DNA may be involved in that coat - the fluffiest, softest, thickest fur we have ever seen on a hound! If you’re crafty with felt, Johnny could keep you in good supply.
An keen walker at a good clip, Johnny is an active lad who enjoys two walks a day, along with playtime at home. Every human and dog he meets out and about becomes a friend, and he is currently in care with another male greyhound whose company he greatly enjoys. Because of his sweet and social temperament, Johnny would do best with humans who are around more often than not, or may even enjoy being an “office dog” with lots of humans to snootervise (between naps of course).
Johnny is quite the foodie which makes him very easy to train and work with (so long as tasty treats are involved) and while he is still working on resisting the temptation to help himself to an unattended shoe, he happily hands them over when caught red pawed in his acts of thievery. He’s a very gentle and good natured boy, who doesn’t mind sharing food or toys, and is unfazed by small animals when on lead. His only vice is the occasional ultra-zoomie of joy, and he often forgets that lapdog is actually a size and not an attitude, so we recommend that he be closely supervised around small children or frail adults in the home who he may knock over out of pure exuberance for life.
A few weeks after arriving in foster care Johnny had a seizure. Diagnostics ruled out underlying health conditions and he is now being treated for idiopathic epilepsy, he was put on medication to manage this condition but moving forward without a second seizure he has been weened of this medication.
The smiliest, snuggliest boy, and described by his foster carers as “a delight”; this happy-go-lucky hound will fit easily into many different home environments and is sure to brighten the lives of his new humans every day. Apply today to meet this gorgeous guy, he surely won’t spend long in foster care. .

Adoption details
Thinking about adopting?
We’d love to help you find your greyhound match!
To get started, we’ll ask for a bit of information about your home and lifestyle on our application form. This helps us make sure we match you with a dog that suits your household and sets both of you up for success.
Many greyhounds come from racing kennels where they’re used to having other dogs around. Some can struggle being left completely alone, which can lead to signs of separation anxiety like barking or chewing.
Because of this, we usually look to rehome greyhounds into homes where they’ll have company - either human or canine - and not be left alone for more than four hours on a regular basis. If that’s not your setup right now, don’t worry as we’re happy to chat about options such as dog walkers, doggy daycare, or taking your greyhound to work.
Our Adoption Checklist:
To be considered for adoption, we ask that you have:
A secure, fully fenced yard (minimum height around hip height)
A home where the dog is allowed to sleep inside at night
A routine that doesn’t leave the dog home alone regularly for long periods (more than 4 hours) without people or another dog for company
If you’re not sure whether you tick every box, please still apply! We’re happy to have a conversation and see if we have a greyhound who might be the right fit.
Please fill in as much detail as you can as there’s no word limit on any question.
