About Georgie
Georgie is an 18-month-old Poodle mix. Possibly a Mini Groodle or a Cavoodle, as she is around the 10kg size range. She is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and in excellent health.
Georgie can be a boisterous young lady, and when she came into care, jumping up, overstimulation and other frantic behaviours were a big issue. Since foster caring with a trainer, Georgie has calmed down considerably and learned some great manners. But she definitely needs to live in an environment that will encourage and reinforce calm behaviours. She will tend towards anxiety if allowed to continue overstimulation, so we are looking for a calm home with good influences around her.
For these reasons, Georgie’s ideal home will be child-free or have older children (though she is kid-friendly) and will be dog-free. Georgie does like to play with other young dogs when introduced properly, but she tends to get very rough and overstimulated play can quickly get out of control.
In addition, she has had a couple of instances of lunging at dogs on walks (when that other dog approached quickly or was overstimulated), but we have been working on this issue as well, and she now walks nicely for the most part. However, it will be in her best interest to have a home where she is the only dog. She is untested with cats and other small pets.
Georgie’s ideal humans will be semi-active, enjoying walks and outings with her, and will want to play with her. She is not suited to be a lapdog for someone elderly, nor would we consider an apartment-type situation. She must have a yard to play in and excellent fencing.
Georgie loves all food and is not fussy. She shows no resource guarding, but is a bit of a foodie and would pinch food from other pets if not supervised. She is not a barker but will show some frantic pacing when left alone, so continued work on her separation confidence is a must. She loves all toys, but is unreliable in bringing the ball back and will deconstruct stuffed toys if she is allowed to.
All in all, Georgie is a sweet girl who needs firm guidance and someone to give her the love and structure that she needs. Continuing the training that she is used to will be highly encouraged, and an adopter who is prepared to do so will have a fantastic life companion.
Medical notes
Georgie has no major medical requirements.
