About Skye
Skye is a gentle soul with a heartbreaking past and a hopeful future. 💔➡️💖
When our Animal Compliance Officers found her, she had been abandoned in bushland—her fur was severely matted, her skin was inflamed, and it was clear she had been lost and neglected for quite some time. Thanks to the care of our veterinary team and her loving foster family, Skye is now safe, clean, and slowly learning to trust again. 🛁🐶
Her Journey So Far:
Skye’s foster carers have been working tirelessly to rebuild her confidence and help her feel safe in a home environment. She’s made progress, but she still has a long way to go. She’s a quiet, sensitive girl who needs a calm and patient household where she can continue healing at her own pace. 🧘♀️💕
She’s especially fearful of men, so any household with male members will need to be extremely gentle and understanding. Skye is not suited to homes with young children or other pets, as she thrives in peaceful surroundings with minimal noise and stimulation. 🏡🚫🐕
What Skye Needs:
🧘♀️ A very quiet, calm, and patient home
🐾 A family who will let her come to them—no rushing, no picking her up too soon
🕰️ Someone who is home regularly, as she becomes anxious and vocal when left alone
🚶♀️ Gentle walks in quiet areas with no crowds or other dogs
🧴 Continued Malaseb baths and monitoring of her skin condition
🍽️ A refined or elimination diet to help identify and manage potential allergies
Skye is beginning to enjoy short walks and is showing signs of curiosity and comfort in her foster home. She’s not ready for cuddles or close physical interaction just yet, but with time, patience, and love, she will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. 🌱🐕
Ideal Home:
🏡 Calm, quiet, and stable environment
🚫 No young children or other pets
🧍♀️ Preferably female carers or very gentle males
🕰️ Someone home most of the time
💞 A family willing to commit to her emotional and physical healing
Skye’s story is one of resilience. She may not be the kind of dog who jumps into your arms right away, but if you’re someone who believes in second chances and has the heart to help a traumatised dog feel safe again, Skye will reward you with quiet companionship and unconditional love. 🌈🐾

Adoption details
Please do not apply to adopt via our animals' PetRescue profile.
Follow the links below to be directed to the Wollongong City Council website, and find your preferred animal's online profile.
Once in the online profile, scroll down and click the link to complete an adoption application. Once received, a member of our team will be in touch to discuss your application and suitability for your preferred animal.
If we deem the animal to be suitable for your home and lifestyle, an in-person meet and greet may be organised. Should your meet and greet be a success, you can take your new furry friend home that day or following their desexing surgery. Our team will manage all your animal's paperwork, including ownership and vaccination documentation.
