About Pumba
Introducing Pumba, a playful and plucky small dog whohas the potential to make wonderful companion pet. He absolutely loves people and other dogs and, although he looks quite serious in his photos, Pumba is a happy little chap and his tail is constantly wagging.
Pumba is a Dachshund/Jack Russell cross. Although he has recognisable physical features and loyalty of a Dachshund, he has the agility and alertness of a JR. Pumba is a small dog but he is not tiny; he weighs approximately 8 kilograms and is fully grown. However, he may put on a bit more weight as he was somewhat underweight when he came into care. Mr P is a striking-looking dog: he has a lovely shiny black coat and tan paws, symmetrical tan circles around his eyes and a white streak down his chest.
Before coming into care, Pumba had a very restricted life, but he has shown great resilience in adapting to new experiences: he has learnt to walk on a lead (but is working on not being reactive to unfamiliar dogs); he visited a dog park and interacted positively with people and other dogs; he is in care with other dogs (male and female) and initiates play but he can get overexcited at times.
Although he has progressed a great deal while in care, Pumba MUST have an adopter who is familiar with the breed and is willing to continue with his training - the result will be a wonderful family pet as he loves his people and being close to them. Training will be easy as he is very food motivated. He would also do particularly well as a playmate for a dog of similar or medium size. Pumba loves exploring the garden and playing outdoors with his foster siblings but is predominantly an indoor dog.
If you have any questions or would like to find out more about this special dog, his foster mum would love to have a chat with you. To ensure a reply to enquiries about adoption, please tell us a little about yourself and your location and what you can offer this special boy.
