About Egg
Egg had been a lost domestic pigeon, hanging around people who fed her bread for months. Eventually, a result of malnutrition and the outdoors rendering her weary, she became emaciated and then her body started to struggle with the bread she was eating.
So by the time she got to us, she was looking quite sickly and lethargic. Her crop was full of fermenting bread, and with the GI partially in stasis she wasn’t in a good place.
From her crop flush, we evacuated 20ish grams (that is a bird’s full crop capacity!) of bread slurry, which also smelt pretty horrific 🤢.
We were able to save Egg with many days of intensive care and fluid therapy. And she has turned out to be quite the stunner!
Egg is a gentle little pigeon who is comfortable spending time with people. At the moment, Egg is quite happy sitting on your shoulder and eating from your hand, but she isn’t at the stage yet where she will handle being squished and manhandled, however we think one on one time in an adoptive home might change this.
Egg would suit most living scenarios, whether that he outdoors in an aviary or as an indoor companion.
