About Coco
I’m a cheerful, energetic little girl with a big love for life! Most of my days are spent chasing lizards and mice, and when I’m not busy exploring, you’ll find me curled up on my carer’s lap, snoozing happily while they watch TV.
I came into care with my litter of puppies and later tested positive for heartworm. I’m now partway through treatment, which is fully funded by GPAWS through Furlife Harbour City Vet in Gladstone. Treatment means no walks for the time being (a bit sad for me, since I love them), daily medication, and three x vet visits for day-stays. While I seem completely normal and healthy on the outside, heartworm treatment does carry risks. The most serious is the possibility of a blood clot forming when the worms die, which can in rare cases be fatal. This is why I must stay calm and quiet during treatment, and why an adopter needs to understand and accept this risk.
Because my care is ongoing, I need to be adopted locally so I can keep attending our vet. I can’t be desexed until treatment is complete, and I will remain registered and microchipped in GPAWS' name until this time - but once I’m through this, I’ll be ready for a full and happy life.
If you’ve been looking for a small, active dog who’s also a lap-lover, I’d love the chance to be part of your family.-
