About Nala
Nala has been patiently waiting for her new family, and we can’t believe she hasn’t been snapped up yet. This 43kg cuddle-monster came back to SAFE through no fault of her own and has been blossoming in foster care. With her gentle nature, soft expression, and love of all things cosy, she’s the definition of a gentle giant.
She may be big, but her vibe is pure calm. Nala enjoys beach visits, car rides, long walks with her fosterers and running with the pack at Doggy Day Care and Farm Stays (in Oldbury). She also enjoys her weekly adventure with a professional dog walker. Her leash manners are improving beautifully; she now sits and waits at intersections and settles into a lovely rhythm, though she can still pull when she’s excited to meet a new dog, person, or irresistible smell. With continued training, she’ll only get better.
The team at Doggy Daycare adore her. They describe her as beautifully natured and wonderful with other dogs when introduced slowly. You can watch her enjoying daycare here: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1AoFuMMWbi/
She’s lived harmoniously with both a puppy and an older dog in foster care and shows no interest in ducks or other small animals, so with thoughtful introductions, she’s likely to adjust well to a variety of pets. We suspect that in her previous life, her size led to her playfulness being discouraged—but when she lets loose with a rare burst of zoomies, she is nothing short of glorious.
At home, Nala is affectionate, relaxed, and social. She has an endearing “huff” bark and a funny little jaw snap that she uses to announce its playtime. She knows some basic commands, has a bit of recall, is fully toilet trained, and confidently uses the doggy door. She can be left alone without fuss and will also let you know if something needs your attention. Her handful of quirks only make her more charming: she’s a shameless kitchen-counter opportunist, especially fond of any baked goods left unattended. She requires daily medication for incontinence, which works perfectly—no accidents at all.
Nala would thrive with someone who has the space for a big, affectionate dog and the heart to appreciate her gentle soul. She’s loving, joyful, and ready to join a household that enjoys walks, cuddles, and the kind of companionship only a big dog can give. If she sounds like your kind of girl, apply to meet her.
