About Murray
Are you looking for a new team mate on the farm? Murray is a 2 year old, black and tan, male kelpie who is looking for work and could be your next star employee!
He is a cheerful, easy-going dog who loves people. He likes to jump up gently for a pat but isn't rough and won't knock you over. He enjoys attention but is also quite happy to snooze in his pen until it's time to go to work.
Murray will need regular work or exercise - he has been working sheep while in foster care, but is satisfied with a good run on days when there's no work for him. He's been an outside dog and is quiet and clean in his pen. He is super keen to help you out around the farm and he will go over or under farm fences to do so. He will need a secure, 6 foot pen or off ground kennel to keep him safe when he can't be with you. He does not climb or dig out.
He's been happily socialising with other entire male dogs - although he may posture at first, it's not long before the play bow comes out to invite chasey games. He doesn't think he's a stud dog and is very appropriate with females. He can go to a home with or without other dogs. He enjoys company but is also fine on his own.
Murray has some decent skills on sheep! He can go both directions around his stock, moves off handler pressure, balances up nicely and is not too pushy. His call off and stop need work but he is ready and willing for more training. He has been exposed to cattle on the other side of the fence and has shown interest in working them. He shows no interest in poultry. He jumps up onto a buggy when asked and rides in the back without needing to be tethered. He walks nicely on a lead, comes when he is called and goes into his pen when asked.
Murray has not been exposed to cats (or young children).
Murray is located in VIC.

You can also write out your answers and email them to dogs@dogs4jobs.com.au
*Please note, due to the high volume of applications received, we will not respond to Petrescue chat messages, or enquiries to adopt a dog. You must complete our adoptions form to be considered for the dog or pup, and we will respond to this form via our email.
We will then request to complete a yard check, or for you to send in photos of your yard showing the fencing, space, shelter and any hazards etc, to confirm it is safe and secure, as well as adequate space for a working breed dog.
Following this, we will then put you in touch with the dog/s foster carer/s that you are interested in, to chat further over the phone, about whether the dog is a good fit for your family, and vice versa. We are searching for the perfect match for each dog and their needs. We offer interstate adoption on all of our dogs.
