About Luna STA014215
Meet Luna, a delightful senior lady with a heart full of sweetness and love. Luna has the kind of charm that instantly makes her a prized friend to everyone she meets. Friendly and amiable, she enjoys company and is good with children, making her an ideal companion for a family looking to add a touch of feline warmth to their lives.
Luna is a true foodie at heart, and mealtime is one of her cherished moments of the day. She will never turn down a treat, especially if it comes with cuddles. Known for being a "love biter," Luna gently shows her adoration in the most endearing ways. She relishes quiet snuggle sessions, making her a perfect companion for those cozy evenings spent at home.
While Luna adores human companionship, she will not share her domain with other felines, appreciating the undivided attention of her human companions.
Luna's love for scratching requires some attention; placing scratching posts strategically around your home will help protect your furniture and keep her entertained. It's also important to let prospective adopters know that she has been diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. One of our experienced veterinarians will gladly discuss her care routine with you, ensuring you feel confident providing her with the best home environment.
If you're ready to welcome a sweet and affectionate companion into your life, Luna is ready to shower you with affection and be your devoted friend. Embrace the opportunity to give this delightful senior lady the loving home she truly deserves.
Medical notes
Diagnosed Medical Health Condition. - Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
During routine examinations at CPS, a heart murmur was detected.
An ultrasound was done on Luna’s heart. Results show she has a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). this is the most common form of heart disease in cats. It happens when there is an increase in the thickness of the muscular wall of the heart. This reduces the volume of blood within the heart and prevents the heart muscle from relaxing properly between contractions.
Future Assessments Medication, Treatments required by new owner.
No medication is required at this stage, however it may be required in the future.
Many cats live happy, long lives with a heart murmur.
It is recommended a veterinary exam and cardiac ultrasound is done every 6-12 months to monitor the changes to the heart.
Monitoring sleeping breathing rate at home (how many breaths are taken in a minute) is useful as it may detect early fluid changes in the lungs. A count of < 30 is considered normal.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
