Meet Mira,
Mira a gentle soul with a heart as sweet as her soft gaze. This lovely girl has already made incredible progress on her journey, and with a patient, understanding family she’s sure to blossom even further.
Mira is looking for a calm and quiet home, ideally with experienced owners who understand shy or timid dogs. While she may be sensitive around new people and places at first, her affectionate and curious nature shines through once she feels secure.
She enjoys exploring, can be playful and excitable when her confidence grows, and would suit active people or families who are happy to guide her gently along the way. With kindness, patience, and encouragement, Mira will reward her humans with the most endearing, sweet-natured friendship.
Ideal Home: Mira is fine to live in either a townhouse, standalone home, or farm/acerage with a medium-large yard and high, secure fencing.
Family: Mira is open to meet kids of any age, as long as they are dog savvy and have had experience around dogs. Reason for this is because Mira can be a little shy when she first meets you and when heading into a new environment. She needs some time to decompress and adjust. We feel that experienced kids, or older kids (10yrs+) will be more understanding of her needs.
Mira is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as she shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is able to spend time in the yard on her own, but would also love to be inside with her new family too - she's the type of dog who could live inside full time as we feel she would be more relaxed.
Furry Friends: Mira is dog selective. During her dog assessment she was able to interact and meet the other dog, and was content in their presence - she was able to co-exist nicely, neither dogs needed to play or interact they were just able to 'be'. However, Mira has also meet other dogs which she didn't feel as content with. She tends to like dogs that are similar to her in nature (quiet, gentle, reserved).
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Mira would go living with/meeting cats and pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Mira would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Confidence building should also be incorporated into her training.
Although rare, Mira may jump on you - she usually does this when she gets excited.
Mira is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as: sit.
Mira is food motivated too - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea as he is very responsive to them. She is gentle when taking treats from you.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Mira has low to mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins every other day day to keep her happy and healthy. Right now, Mira doesn't appear to want to play with toys, this may change once she is in her new home, but what she does like is going for walks, socialising with people and enjoys personal play with her handlers and of course, cuddles and pats.
Mira walks well on lead with very minimal pulling - she sometimes stops during walks when she's not feeling confident - but is able to continue after some words of encouragement - a little reassurances goes a long way with Mira. She is fine to be walked on a harness or collar/lead.
Staff Comments: Mira is a sweet and affectionate girl. She loves to have her belly rubbed. She can be a bit unsure at times, around new people and new environments, but she removers quickly with encouragement and kindness. She will need confidence building incorporated into her training.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
