Percy’s the kind of dog that steals hearts. With his sweet nature and playful temperament, he’s been loved by everyone who’s met him. Percy is looking for a forever home where he can finally put down roots and never be let down again. Could that be with you? 🐾
At just 1 year old, Percy found himself in a rural pound running out of options, but his story didn’t end there. This sweet, gentle boy is so much more than his rough start... he’s a loyal friend, a playful companion, and a pup with a heart of gold. He was friendly, sweet and funny and stole the hearts of the pound staff. He waited in the pound for months, watching others come and go, until finally it was his turn... the words 'today's the day mate!' signaled his turn to be rescued by Off The Chain.
Percy is a fully grown 23kg, knee-height Bulldog x. He’s affectionate, happy, and always eager to be part of the action. This sweet boy travels easily in the car, making him the ultimate road trip buddy. Percy loves spending time with people and has made plenty of doggy friends along the way. Clever and capable, he’s a dog who will truly thrive with a confident owner to guide him.
Basic commands came easy to Percy, though sometimes he appreciates a little food incentive to encourage him. He has a generally calm but happy demeanour, and lives with a carer who works full time+ and copes just fine with that routine, hanging out in the yard during the day with the other dogs. Percy will need 6ft fencing or a secure area to keep him safe in the first day or two while he’s settling in. But once he realises he’s loved and safe, he’s content to potter around and happily stay in the yard like the good boy he is. At night, he will hang on his bed or on the couch with you, and sleeps through the night in his crate in the living room, happy knowing it's his safe place. Percy is not suitable for homes with cats, pocket pets, or other small animals. He is learning to walk calmly on a leash, and benefits far more from walks with his human friend than off-leash dog parks- they can be chaos and are not ideal for pups like Percy.
Percy is best suited to a home with humans who will include him in their lives and guide him with love and consistency. He’s a dog who gives back everything you put into him. He’s ready for a fresh start, a family of his very own, and all the love he’s been waiting for.

Medical notes
Percy is currently on 20mg fluoxetine daily to help him ease through the transitions between pound, foster carer/s, and adopting home. Fluoxetine is a very affordable and safe medication commonly prescribed for dogs with Percy's history. It is approx $1/day. This is a medication prescribed for him to help him with some separation anxiety which significantly improves with each day he can trust you are coming back for him and is likely not a life long treatment. The intention is that Percy be adopted while medicated with Zactin (we will send him with a start pack!) with this treatment continuing by the adopter until he has settled in and their vet agrees he can be weaned off.

- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Enrichment, exercise and training needs of pet you are applying for
- If you have not read our adoption process below in full, please do not apply until you have.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. We will not contact you if you do not complete the form in full AND provided the required photos of yard/fencing within 48hrs. If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. This holding deposit will be subtracted from the adoption fee should you adopt the animal on hold for you.
