About Gemma
A true gem of a greyhound, sweet and affectionate Gemma can’t wait to become your new best friend!
From the beach to cafes, craft markets, op shops, and everywhere in between, Gemma has a new lease on life and brings her happy attitude everywhere she goes. She is still getting used to car rides but otherwise travels very well in them once settled and loves going places with her human. She walks well on a lead and enjoys brisk morning walks (10-15 mins) and long evening strolls (30-50 mins), although she can be startled by loud noises inside and outside.
Don't take notice of her age, as she still has an exuberant personality! Gemma is prone to zoomies and loves playing with her toys and so will enjoy a human that can enjoy her energy. Gemma is very placid and friendly around humans and medium/large dogs. She is generally very well-behaved and comfortable when out walking, but needs continued doggie socialisation to learn to ignore exciting things like small dogs running off-leash.
She may be too lively for a home with young children. She loves curling up in bed – both your bed and hers – to pass the day.
Gemma will ideally enjoy a home where her human is around more often than not, such as a WFH/part-time/casual or stay-at-home carer. She has not exhibited any destructive behaviour when left alone.
Otherwise, she would do well with a medium/large doggy friend to keep her company. She is of course toilet-trained and sleeps well through the night (and during the day!) especially when she is close to her human.
If you want someone to drink a puppacino with you on a sunny morning or curl up next to you on a rainy afternoon, look no further than Gemma!
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]
