About Ozzie
Hi! I’m Ozzie and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR OZZIE
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/QexAPb4PShgPF4gX7
NOTE: You are unable to meet Ozzie until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Ozzie in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• The first thing you need to know about me is that I have had no life experience. I need a family to socialise me and show me the world isn’t scary place
• I have never been allowed inside before however I am hoping that my new family will allow me inside to make me feel included and part of the family
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• To be allowed inside with my family and not left outside 24/7 with no interaction
• I am a puppy, so I WILL bite, chew things, toilet inside, bark & cry and be destructive. It is up to you to train these behaviours out of me. Please don’t apply for me if you are not willing to put in the effort to train me to grow up to be a well behaved and social dog
• I have never interacted with another dog before coming to the shelter. I have made friends while being here. A doggie playmate who is gentle and calm would be great, if not then lots of socialisation and positive experiences with other dogs
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• A cat may be ok with a slow introduction
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• A family who promises to keep me well-groomed and brush me regularly so I’m always looking and feeling my best
• Lots of love and attention
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• I can be shy at first, so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time. A quiet househould at this stage may be best for me
• TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING. It's ESSENTIAL I receive training in all aspects of my life so I can be the best dog I can be when I'm older
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
My best features:
• Highly food motivated
• Gentle and placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans once I get to know you
• I know my basic doggie commands
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• I am clever and eager to learn so would love a family who will teach me some cool tricks
• I love attention, hugs, kisses and head scratches once I get to know you
• Well mannered
Where I need to improve / Training required:
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I'm learning to walk on the lead at the shelter and am getting much better. I'm still a bit slow and fearful but with lots of practice I should soon look forward to a daily stroll around the neighbourhood. Training and walking me in a halti or harness may help
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue with my socialisation
• Unsure in new situations – more socialising is needed
• I love my food so using them as a positive reward should make my training easier
• I need further training on my recall as I can ignore you if you're trying to call me back to you
• I appear to be quite vocal at times when left alone - a family who has a lot of time for me, allow me indoors and leave me with lots of mental enrichment when home alone is recommended
• I am extremely timid in new situations such as entering a building/home. I MUST have a family who'll allow me inside so I can see it isn't a scary place and to allow my confidence to grow
• I've only just learnt to walk on the lead since being at the shelter so I'm still a bit erratic but lots of walks will help me learn how to be great on the lead
• I can sometimes initially be shy and try to avoid things going over my head (lead etc). It doesn't take long for me warm up and my excitable & full of life nature to come out
