Shooting Star needs a foster carer
About Shooting Star
TikTok sensation shooting Star is getting ready to land in a home!
Star was found lost and clueless on the streets, when a kind passer-by was able to pick him up and take him to our veterinary clinic. Star is a tumbler pigeon, which means he can do ‘sky acrobatics’ - ‘tumbling’ in the air which is caused by a selectively bred neurological misfire in the brain. These are primarily hobby birds, where people let them out to do tricks in the sky.
We expect these kinds of hobby birds to be very shy on intake, experiencing little interaction with people in the past. But Star made sure to tell us he was very interested in people company, and in typical young male fashion, nibbles on your fingers and fans out his tail to say ‘look how strong I am, I can protect our babies. DATE ME!’
Star would be happy in either a human companion home indoors, or with a few friends in a predator proof aviary. He would like a home that abides with our adoption policy and doesn’t let him out to free fly where he is at risk of getting lost for a second time.

From there we will work with the adopter to find a bird that suits their lifestyle, and organise a meet and greet at our shelter. We offer continious support post-adoption and are always available for help or questions.
