About Todd
Todd requirements in his new home:
- A quiet calm household.
- A desex female dog. Todd can be dog selective, so a meet and greet will be required with slow introductions.
- No children under 12 years old.
- Patient owners who will continue his training and seek training advice.
- Regular grooming, clipping and brushing at groomers if you aren't experience and have the appropriate equipment at home.
- A patient owners that can continue to show him that outside is the appropriate place to toilet, (he may still have the odd accident inside).
Todd is a sweet guy, looking for a calm, loving forever home. He will thrive in a quiet environment with adults who understand the importance of giving him lots of attention and training.
Todd is looking for owners that have experience in dog training or are prepared to access a trainer. He is selective with the dogs he gets along with and has other behaviours that will make regular dog training sessions very beneficial. He won't be suited to all families or homes.
Todd came into our care with his coat matted and with an ear infection, he will need ongoing and regular brushing, clipping, grooming and ear care to maintain his health handsome look.
Todd loves being around people and loves ear scratches and belly rubs. He is looking for a home where he can have access to both inside and outside and to sleep inside of a night. He currently sleeps in the laundry sharing a dog bed with another dog, and will happily sleep there all night. He loves his daily walk, strolling and sniffing all the smells, he will need more training to learn to walk well on the lead.
Todd isn't the quickest of learners and will need consistency and structure to best learn new positive behaviours. While in care he has learnt to sit and to wait for his meals. He is currently eating his meals in a slow feeder so he doesn't scoff his food. He needs his own space to eat without fear of kids, dogs or people interfering with his food while he eats. Todd can still have the odd toilet accident inside and will need regular access to outside to help him learn where it's appropriate to toilet.
Todd can be selective with the dogs he gets along with, prefering females. With slow introductions he will enjoy their attention, affection and playfulness.
Todd will need a home that has secure fences and gates and people that will take care he doesn't dart out an open door or gate, (he would benefit from boundary training) as he has a tendency to get out and chase cars.
He needs a home with no cats or other small animals, no children under 12 years old and with owners that don't have mobility issues.
He is not suited to doggy day care, dog parks or unfenced off lead time.
He needs ongoing training, and is selective with what dogs he gets along with.
With patience, training and love, he will become a great member of the family.
