About Lucy
Do you love to be needed?
I’m not talking about having someone think you are ok or even just love hanging out with you, I am talking about having someone that loves you so deeply that they cannot handle the thought of being away from you, not even for a minute.
8 year old, Chihuahua, Lucy has spent her life as an outside dog. She came to us in a terrible state, but we were so pleased that she was surrendered to us. It literally saved her life.
Lucy needed quite a bit of vet work, including 2 major surgeries. Apart from having no previous vet care and it being obvious that she had been bred, our vets were still shocked at what was going on inside her.
It wasn’t Lucy’s rotten teeth that were a surprise.
Lucy had a lump in her groin and when the vet examined it, it felt like a hernia. It is often hard to tell what a lump is, particularly in such a small dog, but when the vet opened her up in surgery, even she was shocked.
Poor Lucy had a massive hernia on both sides of her groin, meaning that her abdominal contents were spilling into the holes. Shockingly, she was also in the early stages of pregnancy and had that been allowed to continue, her uterus would have literally fallen out of her body, probably resulting in Lucy’s death.
Such big holes in such a tiny body meant that it was an incredibly intricate and lengthy repair, needing to be done over 2 separate surgeries.
Nobody knows what happened but one of the theories would be that whatever had impregnated Lucy had been large and split her apart, but we can never know exactly why Lucy’s’ insides were so damaged. All we know is that it could have proven fatal.
Lucy is now fully recovered, and she is ready to start the search for her happily ever after.
Lucy is a Velcro dog. She will cry if you leave her alone. She needs a home where she will have an emotional support person 24/7.
Please only apply if you can devote your life to Lucy.
Yes, Lucy demands your full attention, but she will also give you all of hers.
Lucy is located in Kingaroy QLD
