Moonpie is dog and people friendly, not to mention a sassy cuddle monster who will sneak up on your lap for cuddles and kisses. She will be your little shadow watching your every move!
She loves plush toys and can often be found “de-fluffing” them. It’s hilarious! She also loves napping in her bed while her foster mum works from home and absolutely enjoys snoozing on her foster mum's lap while Netflix-ing. Moonpie is a happy camper who is just so full of love and enjoys rolling over to get belly rubs.
She is a quick learner, well-mannered, calm, good with routine, playful and receptive to commands. It is a huge positive that she hardly barks at home unless she is very excited at dinnertime! However, she stops barking soon after.
Moonpie loves to play with her resident fur-sisters and enjoys their company so she would be best suited for a home with another similar sized resident furry friend.
She has successfully stayed home (with her resident fur-sisters) without anxiety or any destructive behaviour. On-going training in her new home will be beneficial.
Her energy levels are moderate; hence she would be happy with a medium sized backyard with regular visits to dog parks, beach walks, road trips (absolutely loves car rides), camping and all other adventures you could possibly think of. Off-lead walks are recommended ONLY AFTER sufficient training and gaining 100% confidence that she has good recall and is not a flight risk.
Moonpie sleeps through the night and is toilet trained. She goes on pee pads if access to outside is not available for some time. Training to use the doggy door will really help her have a good mix of indoor and outdoor time. She is best suited for a home where he is included in activities, adventures, and everyday life as much as possible.
Moonpie is a fabulous girl however, she has a few quirks to be aware of:
- She loves to explore and is quite curious hence, could be a flight risk if an opportunity presents itself. Must stay on lead at all times. After a close bond of trust and love is built, training to be off-lead in a fenced area may be undertaken over a period of time to test recall and assess.
- She has shown a bit of sass with some dogs when on lead ONLY and it's potentially due to being on lead. Hence, it would be best to keep her away from other dogs while walking on lead.
- She needs a firm hand and a family who gently guide her away from any developing unacceptable behaviours. A firm “No” or a loud clap helps her to learn.
