🐾 Meet Nini, from Nannutarra – Queen of the Desert 👑✨

Nini is a young, gentle sweetheart with a playful spirit and quiet confidence.

Her story began near Nanutarra, where an Italian backpacker became her closest companion. Every morning, Nini would wait patiently outside her human’s room, then spend long afternoons together on a bench. When it was time for her friend to continue travelling, Nini bravely made the six-hour journey to SAFE — earning her title as the Queen of the Desert.

Once a wanderer, she’s now thriving in her foster home — climbing her cat tree like a pro and zooming around the house at full speed, complete with her own “mrrrp-vrrrooom” engine noises as she races past.

As she’s settled in, Nini has shown off a few delightful quirks. She drinks water in the most elegant way — dipping her paw into the bowl and licking the water off — and has a playful habit of nibbling on cardboard boxes.

She’ll happily co-exist with you while you do your own thing, content to stay in the same room or nearby. Nini purrs easily and often, loves rubbing against ankles to say hello, and is very chatty — she’ll happily talk to you throughout the day.

During her time in foster care, she’s become comfortable being picked up and held, though she prefers affection on her own terms. She’s also discovered the joy of cuddling on the duvet, where she’ll make biscuits and settle in close.

Nini gets along well with other cats and has done beautifully with young puppies. She’s confident and can hold her own, gently putting puppies in their place if they get too energetic. She hasn’t yet been tested with older dogs, but her calm, adaptable nature suggests she has great potential. She’s also perfectly happy as an only cat, soaking up all the love and attention when it’s just her and her humans.
