About Tess
Meet the irresistible Tess, a tiny Australian Silky Terrier with a big heart, bigger ears, and the kind of charm that makes complete strangers stop mid-walk just to say hello.
At 6 years and 9 months old and weighing in at a petite 2.7 kgs, Tess may be small, but her presence is unforgettable. With her soft, curious eyes, dainty trot, and signature high perch lounging style, she floats through life with grace, just a dash of cheek, and a whole lot of cuddly charm.
Tess came into care as a private surrender through no fault of her own and has settled in well with her foster family.
Tess is a gentle little soul who thrives in calm, nurturing environments and adores being surrounded by the company of her fur siblings.
She sleeps snuggled up beside them at night, curls into a cozy spot on the lounge during the day and preferably the one with the best view.
Tess will happily follow her pack around the house just to be close to the action. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, both big and small, often nestling against the larger ones like a tiny spoon.
While Tess gets along amazingly with all dogs, she is still untested with cats and pocket pets.
Tess is beautifully social and loves people of all ages, Tess would feel most confident in a home without small children, as sudden movements and loud noises can startle her.
Tess is a sensitive little lady with a heart full of love and a deep need for gentle reassurance.
Toilet trained and polite indoors, Tess has pretty good manners overall, although she may occasionally have a little accident overnight, especially if the grass is wet, she’s not a fan of soggy paws, thank you very much!
Tess knows how to use a doggy door, but crates aren't her vibe!
Tess enjoys a gentle walk of around 30 minutes and is steadily improving on lead. She’s not one to pull or lunge, but she can get distracted when the world is a bit too noisy or unfamiliar.
Her skittishness suggests she may have come from a quieter home, one without much training or exposure to busy environments.
While Tess doesn’t know many commands yet, she responds well to a “no” or “uh-uh” and is gradually learning more with time, patience, and consistency.
Tess’s favorite pastime? Cuddling. She is happiest curled up against her human or another dog, soaking up warmth and love in quiet companionship. She does enjoy her independence and personal space, but the second she senses a treat... or better yet, a chicken nugget, her whole-body bounces and squeaks with anticipation.
Yes, she squeaks. And yes, it’s adorable!
Tess is also known to “talk” to her people in the sweetest little sounds, as if trying to join the conversation in her own special way.
While Tess isn’t a runner, her curious nature means she’ll happily wander off to explore if the opportunity presents itself, so a very secure yard is a must.
Tess doesn’t have a reliable recall yet and sometimes thinks she can jump down from places that are… well… a bit too ambitious for her tiny legs.
She enjoys grazing on her kibble throughout the day and never turns down a tasty meal. Her appetite is enthusiastic but balanced, Tess knows when she’s full and doesn’t overindulge.
Tess is a beautiful blend of soft and spirited, gentle and a little bit goofy.
She is still finding her confidence in the world, but with the right family, one that offers love, patience, a quiet environment, and at least one fur sibling to snuggle—she will continue to blossom.
Tess may not be the loudest in the room, but she has an undeniable way of stealing hearts wherever she goes.
Whether it’s her giant ears, her sweet voice, or her gentle soul, one thing is certain, Tess is unforgettable!
If you're ready to fall in love slowly, sweetly, and completely, Tess is ready to meet you. Just be warned: you’ll never walk anywhere quickly again, because everyone she meets is going to want a cuddle.
Is your home and family the perfect match for the lovable Tess?
