Meet Milo,
Milo is a clever, goofy boy who is looking for an experienced owner who can guide him with patience and kindness. Milo would thrive in a calm, quiet home where he can feel safe, but he also has plenty of playful energy to enjoy walks, games, and adventures with active people or families.
Milo is a gentle soul with a funny mix of confidence and timidity - sometimes brave, sometimes a little unsure - but always eager to learn and be part of the fun.
He’s social with people and other dogs, and once he bonds with you, his affectionate nature truly shines through. With Milo, you’ll discover a sweet, smart, and slightly silly best friend who is ready to share life’s little adventures.
Ideal Home: Milo is fine to live in either a stand alone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard and high, secure fencing.
Family: Milo is open to meet kids from 10 years and up. Reason for this is because Milo can be a little sensitive when it comes to over handling, he enjoys being showered with affection, but too much can make him feel nervous. We feel that older kids in the home will be more aware of this.
Milo is fine to live with people who work part-time hours, or home more often than not. His previous owner stated that there were mild signs of separation anxiety, although he has been pretty settled with us as he receives regular human interaction. He is able to spend time in the yard on his own, but would love to be inside with his new family too. He loves being around people and thrives off their love and affection.
Furry Friends: Milo is open to meet other dogs, during his assessment Milo showed great understanding - he is aware that the other dog is there and was still easy to handle. Upon closer inspection of the other dog, Milo was social and eager to play. Both dogs were able to play and interact well, but when the other dog got too playful Milo removed himself from the area until he felt happy enough to re-enter and play. Milo could live with another dog, in fact the companionship for Milo would be good, but the other dog would need to be relaxed and not high energy. Milo would benefit from more socialisation but he already has great skills to work off.
Right now we do not feel that Milo would be suitable to live with cats.
Training & Development: Milo would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes with other dogs would also be beneficial so that Milo can extend on the skills he already has.
Milo will jump on you to say hello when he first meets you, however he is smart, and is learning not to.
Milo knows his name, and he knows commands such as sit and down. He is a smart boy and very trainable.
He is food motivated too - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea as he is very responsive to them. He is gentle when taking treats from you.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Milo has mid to high-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 30-60mins a day to keep him healthy and content. Milo likes to play with toys, he really doesn’t have a preference, but he also likes to go for walks, meet other dogs and loves personal play with his handlers, cuddles and being near you.
Milo walks well on lead with some pulling at the start but as the walk goes on he settles and walks very well. He is best to be walked on either a martingale, harness or collar.
Staff Comments: Goofy, gentle, and oh-so-smart—Milo has the perfect mix of fun, affection, and charm! This playful and sweet boy loves to learn, explore, and share his silly side, all while showing just how much love he has to give. Milo is social, affectionate, and more than ready to wiggle his way into the hearts of his forever family.

Medical notes
Separation Anxiety: Just like us, some dogs don’t love being left alone. The good news is, Milo's separation anxiety is mild and manageable with the right routine. Short practice sessions of leaving the house, providing enrichment toys or long-lasting treats, and keeping departures and arrivals low-key can help him feel safe and settled. Building his independence gently, at his pace, will go a long way in helping him relax when you’re out. At the end of the day, Milo just wants reassurance that his favourite humans always come back - and with patience and consistency, he’ll learn that being on his own isn’t so scary after all.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
