About Koda
Well, hello, you’ve found me.
You were obviously looking for someone a little older and that’s terrific because I am almost 10. But I'm not just mature. I'm also flat-out gorgeous, friendly and gentle, well-mannered and low maintenance with just enough quirkiness to make me interesting. After all, perfection is so overrated.
I guess you took one look at my profile, including my three videos, and thought that's the girl for me, but I need to tell you a little of my background.
Apparently, life is like a box of chocolates - or so I've heard. My Pop got very ill and my Nan now has to look after him, so I need a new person or family to look after me. We were all upset about that, but it can’t be helped. As my Pop said to me before I left, "Things change, Koda. Stuff happens but life goes on."
So...you’ve noticed that I am a Whippet x Kelpie and that means I am smart enough to help you do the daily crossword puzzle. I weigh a svelte 16 kgs.
I was rescued by my Mum when I was just a tiny pup. Check out my puppy photo. That's me on the right and my sister on the left.
My Mum and I have lived in a few different environments, like a farm with other dogs and cows and chooks and horses...and guess what? Because I am smart, I have been trained to be stock-proof.
Just like other sensitive creatures, I don’t like thunderstorms and loud noises. Perhaps you have a place in your home that I could hide until the noise goes away?
As far as other dogs are concerned, count me in. I get on with them all.
And I'm proud to say I've even overcome my natural aversion to cats, which makes my foster Mum very proud.
But I must fess up. The Whippet in me likes to chase birds in the backyard and I'm not sure I can be trusted with pocket pets, chickens or guinea pigs. Just sayin'.
Little, little people aren’t my favourite humans. I'm worried they might poke me or pull my ears - ouch! But children with good dog manners, like my foster parents' two little girls, are just fine.
It goes without saying that I'm house-trained and I walk very nicely on leash as well as off lead. Have a look at the video of me walking by the sea and you'll see what I mean. I also have good car ride manner, I love taking my fosters parents to kindy.
I honestly believe I'd fit into most homes. If you have kids or grandkids with good dog manners, it's a YEP from me. Or perhaps you live on your own and like to walk or jog? It's another YEP, especially if we can share a cuddle and a bit of roast chicken afterwards.
Please know that I can be shy around some people until I get to know them. Fair enough, I say. And, being a lady, I am not a fan of too much rough and tumble.
I'm nimble on my feet and if minded to do so, I can sail over a one-metre-high fence, so a securely fenced yard is essential to keep me safe, particularly in the early days of joining your home when I will feel a bit nervous and scared. Change can be hard for a girl sometimes - and I've had a bit of late, so please understand.
If you're looking for a companion who isn’t needy, but likes a cuddle; is just the right size for car trips; and is well-mannered enough to take anywhere, then I'm the girl for you.
