Meet Max,
Max is a gentle boy who is ready to win over hearts with his kind nature and soft eyes. He’s suitable for both first-time owners and those with experience, as he’s adaptable and easygoing. While Max can settle into most household environments, he would thrive best in a calm and quiet home where his sweet personality can truly shine.
This boy would suit active people and families, though he doesn’t need endless exercise to stay happy - just enough to stretch his legs and enjoy some quality time. Max is smart, already knows a few commands, and is eager to keep learning new tricks with his people.
Max is curious and playful when interacting with people (he’s not too fussed about toys), and what he loves most is affection. He adores people, is incredibly engaging, and is at his happiest when he’s being showered with cuddles and attention.
If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate dog who will brighten every day with his presence, Max is waiting to meet you!
Ideal Home: Max is fine to live in any property type/dwelling, yard size is of no concern either, just as long as the yard is fully fenced and secure.
Family: There is no age restriction, and Max is open to meet kids of any age. Max is gentle and can be sensitive with new people, just as long as kids in the home are aware of this.
Max is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as he shows no signs of separation anxiety. He is able to spend time in the yard on his own, but would also love to be inside with his new family too. He loves being around people and thrives off your love, attention and affection.
Furry Friends: Max is open to meet dogs that are calm & quiet, during his dog assessment he was happy to interact and was responsive to his handler but would break away from the other dog if the other dog got too playful for him. Max is social, but prefers dogs that are not 'in his face'. He could easily live as the only dog in the home as he doesn't need the companionship of another dog, but if there are other dogs in the home they should match his energy (calm & quiet).
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Max would go living with, or meeting, cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Max would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience.
Although rare, Max may jump on you when he feels nervous - he does this for reassurance.
Max knows his name, but he knows commands such as sit, drop and shake. He is a smart boy and very trainable.
He is food motivated too - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea as he is very responsive to them. He is gentle when taking treats from you.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Max has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep him happy and healthy. Max isn't too interested in playing with toys but he likes to go for walks and loves personal play with his handlers, cuddles and just being by your side.
Max walks well on lead with minimal pulling. He is fine to be walked on either a martingale, harness or collar.
Staff Comments: Max is a gentle, affectionate dog who loves people and thrives in a calm, quiet home. He’s adaptable, suitable for both first-time and experienced owners, and enjoys walks, playtime, and plenty of cuddles. Smart, social, and eager to learn, Max is happiest when he’s by your side.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
