About Daisy
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CANNOT FLY OUR ANIMALS WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Daisy
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound with her siblings.
BREED: American Staffordshire Terrier mix
Breed Traits: American Staffordshire Terriers originally a working breed are high energy, playful, affectionate and intelligent but do require training as they can be headstrong. They are very social with adults and children and are extremely loyal but can suffer from separation anxiety if left for long periods and not raised with good training to grow confidence. Their sociability with dogs is a facet that needs sensible and careful work from an early age.
**************************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, friendly, sweet and playful. She’s the leader in her little foster gang and has a beautiful nature.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Daisy loves to play tug of war and chase the mop around the house. She adores being with her person for cuddles and is very gentle. She’s in a foster home with 2 of her brothers and they all love to play together. She is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where she plays for a while then settles down for a snuggle and snooze before waking up and doing it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: She is always first into the kitchen at food time and will sit and wait patiently looking up at her foster carer.
OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy, she will get on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introductions. She is currently living with a resident dog apart from two siblings. She could live with a dog-savvy, confident cat, again after gentle introduction.
GENERAL INFO: Daisy will need training for pretty much everything being so young. Housetraining is underway but she still has some way to go to master it. Expect accidents while she’s settling into her new home and routine! She rarely barks and doesn’t appear to be scared of anything in particular. She is undergoing crate training at present and going really well. She’ll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where she can mix with other dogs, and this is a commitment we will expect from her new owner. We expect these pups to be medium sized but there are no guarantees
ESSENTIALS for Daisy:
** an active, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore in safety
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence – essential
** continued positive, gentle exposure and socialisation
Daisy will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will have medium to high energy at times as an adult dog.
Daisy could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 6 years of age, depending on experience and always with supervision, who will play and interact with her but know when to give her space.
If Daisy sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
