About Henry
***WE'RE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR FOSTER CARERS TO HELP US OUT SO IF YOU THINK YOU CAN PROVIDE A TEMPORARY HOME FOR ONE OF OUR BEAUTIFUL CATS PLEASE LET US KNOW. THE MORE CARERS WE HAVE AVAILABLE TO LEND A HAND THE MORE CATS WE CAN HELP REHOME***
Henry is an independent ginger gentleman with the confidence of a lion at times, but a heart of gold.
He was rescued as a kitten and has shared a home with another cat, but in true Henry style he chose to co-exist with polite aloofness.
His one true love growing up, however, was the family Labradors - he adored them and would snooze beside them, groom and rub against them. His former family feel he would be okay living with a calm, cat-friendly dog again.
"Henners" enjoys the outdoors during the day and likes to come and go on his own terms. He's not a lap cat and is not so much into cuddling or being picked up like a baby but he will bless you with head rubs, theatrical meows and bed sprawlings when he's in the mood.
Sometimes, though, he simply prefers his own space and doesn't need constant company to be content.
Henry became unsettled by the loud and unpredictable energy of young children in his former home. He started disappearing for days at a time to avoid the noise and only returned for food and a moment of peace.
So, while his family loved him dearly, they made the tough decision that he would be happier in a quieter, more stable environment where he could fully relax and feel at home again, so they reached out to us to find him a new home.
Henry truly is a big softie with a strong sense of self hidden behind a grumpy old man exterior.
His ideal home would be a calm household with no young kids (older kids would be okay), ideally with outdoor access or a cat enclosure so he can enjoy his usual routines.
He's incredibly low maintenance and, in the right environment, he will be a wonderful companion.
Henry has settled well into his foster home, and this is what his foster family have to say about him.
"Henry is a friendly boy, who confidently started exploring our home as soon as he arrived. He's sharing his foster home with 2 younger male cats and an elderly small dog. He is mostly tolerant of his housemates, although he reacts if they get too close and chases them away (more so the cats, he doesn't seem bothered by the dog). For that reason we think he may be best as the only cat in his forever home, but could possibly live happily with a calm, cat-friendly dog. He spends most of his time resting quietly in his favourite place, which is currently the teenage son's bed - he doesn't like giving up his territory, even when the son is trying to get in his own bed at night! Henry is welcoming and happy to be patted when approached though, responding with purrs and head bumps, and is becoming more confident and outgoing as time passes and he settles in more. He would probably be even more outgoing in a home without other cats".
We would love to find Henry a nice, quiet home with someone who is searching for a loving but independent companion. Someone who would love to have some company in their home but doesn't need in-your-face companionship 24/7!
Henry could fit happily with a young professional working from home, a retiree or someone working part-time.
A home with some outdoor access where Henry could spend time outside would be ideal, but not a necessity. Henry has adapted well to the cushy indoor lifestyle at his foster home, but is showing some curiosity about going outside into the cat enclosure.
A home with no young kids, no other cats but potentially a calm dog would be ideal.
If you're looking for a low maintenance and loving companion then Henry is the cat for you.
Henry is approximately 9 years old and has been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and is available for adoption right meow.

A little about us:
Urban Feline Australia is a newly established cat rescue service, run by one passionate individual with the help of friends and volunteers, that is dedicated to keeping cats out of kill shelters and helping them find loving forever homes. We specialize in helping "surrenders" which are cats that have lived with humans previously but for one reason or another their owners are unfortunately no longer able to look after them. We take your pets into our amazing cat sanctuary where they're treated with love and affection until the right forever home is found for them.
Urban Feline Australia is not a large company with government resources, a large facility and a lot of staff. Our tiny rescue is a one man operation run from the safety of our own home. We do this for the love of animals and our only agenda is to save as many cats as we can. We rely heavily on cooperation from friends, other rescues, our amazing foster carers and the kindness of strangers to survive. Every cent we receive from donations and adoption fees is used to keep our rescue running and cover the cost of food, water, litter, equipment and vet bills for the animals in our care.
We are doing as much as we can right now but our dream is to one day be able to purchase a larger property or facility that would allow us to be able to save the lives of many more cats in need. Perhaps even open a cat cafe so that we can spread our message to a wider audience.
We have recently created a Go Fund Me towards this end so if you would like to donate towards our cause please follow the below link.
