About Skittle
***WE'RE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR FOSTER CARERS TO HELP US OUT SO IF YOU THINK YOU CAN PROVIDE A TEMPORARY HOME FOR ONE OF OUR BEAUTIFUL CATS PLEASE LET US KNOW. THE MORE CARERS WE HAVE AVAILABLE TO LEND A HAND THE MORE CATS WE CAN HELP REHOME***
Skittle and Smudge are two of the sweetest, gentlest and most adorable little ladies you're likely to meet in this lifetime.
Sadly we found these two sweethearts in a shelter and on a list of cats due to be put to sleep for being "too timid". But fortunately, thanks to the efforts of some amazing people, we were able to get them out of there and they are now living their best lives with their foster family.
We're not sure of their history prior to being found in the shelter but our best guess is that they were colony cats who were living wild as they were very cat social when they first arrived in our care but it was evident that they had had little or no contact with people before coming into our care.
But with time, love and an amazing effort by one of our super foster carers they began to find their confidence and their beautiful personalities started to shine through.
Skittle, the adorable ginger and white, is the more extroverted or confident of the two. She is very food motivated and will completely forget her fears if she thinks there's a chance of getting a tasty treat. She is happy eat from your hand but if you try and pat her when there's no food involved she will wander off.
Skittle has a cheeky, adventurous and gorgeous personality. She will be the first one to check out her new surrounds and get into mischief. She also likes to chat and will certainly let you know when it's time for dinner and will politely say thank you once she's done :)
Smudge is a bit more reserved and was a little slower to come around but she was never far away from Skittle. Initially Smudge was not at all interested in coming close to her people unless absolutely necessary but recently she had started hanging out and sleeping on the foot of her foster carers bed, when he was in it, and even started to accept pats. Which was a very big thing for timid little Smudge.
Skittle also enjoyed jumping up and having a look around but I think this was more about exploring and looking for food haha. Surprisingly timid little Smudge has become the more social of the two and is definitely going to become a big 'people person" once she has a chance to settle and gets to know her new people.
We can definitely see Smudge being the one that is happy sit on the couch next to you while you're streaming your favourite TV show or curl up in bed with you while you're reading a book.
You can tell that really wants cuddles but is still working out how to feel safe around people. Once she figures this out we're certain that her love will be unconditional. While Skittle's love will 100% be food motivated haha.
Both of these little ladies have very gentle personalities and do not have a mean bone in their bodies. When they first arrive in their new home they will most likely curl up in a cave bed together until they feel it's safe to start exploring. They will be happy to accept pats during this time so this is great way to introduce yourself.
Both also enjoy play so if you get a wand toy out they will forget their fears and have a great time chasing it around. This is a great way to bond. And ofcourse there's always treats :)
We actually moved the girls to another foster home recently and to our surprise they adapted very quickly and within a couple days they were back to their usual selves. So we are confident that it won't take them long to find their feet in their new home.
We would love to find Skittle and Smudge a quiet home with an experienced cat owner who is willing to give them the time and love they need to find their confidence and let their beautiful personalities begin to shine through. Someone who is home a lot and can spend a lot of time playing with them would be ideal.
They wouldn't mind a home that already has a cat, a big brother or sister to show them the way would be great, but a home with loud kids and big dogs is out of the question.
Skittle and Smudge are approximately 9 months old and have been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and are available for adoption right meow.
If you think you have the room in your heart and your home to provide these gorgeous little souls with a great life please let us know and we’ll be more than happy to arrange a time for you to meet and fall in love with them.

A little about us:
Urban Feline Australia is a newly established cat rescue service, run by one passionate individual with the help of friends and volunteers, that is dedicated to keeping cats out of kill shelters and helping them find loving forever homes. We specialize in helping "surrenders" which are cats that have lived with humans previously but for one reason or another their owners are unfortunately no longer able to look after them. We take your pets into our amazing cat sanctuary where they're treated with love and affection until the right forever home is found for them.
Urban Feline Australia is not a large company with government resources, a large facility and a lot of staff. Our tiny rescue is a one man operation run from the safety of our own home. We do this for the love of animals and our only agenda is to save as many cats as we can. We rely heavily on cooperation from friends, other rescues, our amazing foster carers and the kindness of strangers to survive. Every cent we receive from donations and adoption fees is used to keep our rescue running and cover the cost of food, water, litter, equipment and vet bills for the animals in our care.
We are doing as much as we can right now but our dream is to one day be able to purchase a larger property or facility that would allow us to be able to save the lives of many more cats in need. Perhaps even open a cat cafe so that we can spread our message to a wider audience.
We have recently created a Go Fund Me towards this end so if you would like to donate towards our cause please follow the below link.
