About Nico SUA014218
Nico is a stunning senior Maine Coon gentleman who will captivate you with his incredibly handsome looks and gracefully charming presence. Overflowing with affection, Nico's heart matches his majestic appearance, making him the perfect companion for anyone who cherishes close-knit relationships and cozy evenings.
Known for his love of cuddles, Nico is happiest when he's basking in the attention and affection of his loved ones. He thrives as the center of someone's world, where he can love fiercely and be loved in return. However, his gentle soul is quite sensitive – new and loud noises can cause him great distress, and he does not cope at all in the presence of children or dogs. As a true "scaredy-cat," he craves a serene environment with minimal surprises, making him a perfect match for a quiet, calm household.
Nico would fit beautifully into the lifestyle of a retiree or someone who works from home, as he's happiest when surrounded by the comforting presence of his people. If you're ready to open your heart to this beautiful boy, please note that meet and greets are by appointment only. Because of his sensitive disposition, Nico resides comfortably in our Operations Manager's office, where his fear of noise and new faces is cared for.
Nico's sensitive nature requires simple accommodations: his preference for a clean litter tray is paramount, and he's been known to use the carpet as a substitute when his litter demands are unmet. As a prevented measure, we provide two clean trays for him and clean them morning and night. If you're seeking peaceful companionship and are willing to indulge in the needs of this serene and charming soul, then Nico might be your perfect companion. Opening your heart and home to Nico means embracing the serene presence of a loyal and beautiful friend.
Medical notes
Heart Murmur Grade – 3/6
Many cats live happy, long lives with a heart murmur. However if heart disease does develop there is a chance the cat may appear withdrawn. When stressed, the cat may pant or open mouth breathe. Please take your cat to the vet if this occurs. Early diagnosis may allow intervention to reduce or alter disease outcome, however we may not treat if there are no symptoms. If it is determined that there is clinical disease, treatment options usually include daily oral medication.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
