About Buddy
Meet Buddy, a friendly and intelligent Jack Russell Terrier with a vibrant and courageous temperament so typical of his breed. Born on or about 18 February 2023, this sweet boy will be an entertaining addition to your home.
Buddy is fine with children and female dogs, but is untested with cats. When it comes to male dogs, he has attitude! He sees himself as boss dog. His desire to dominate his foster mum's malamute would be funny if it didn't put him at risk. He wasn't desexed until recently, so he's still somewhat hormone driven.
Buddy's house-trained and will happily sleep in a crate at night or in an outdoor enclosure, reflecting his willingness to integrate seamlessly into family life.
He's had basic training, making him a well-rounded addition to any home. Equipped with good lead manners, as you can see in the video, he may show a little enthusiasm at first by pulling, but will quickly settle into a rhythm and walk on a loose lead. True to his Jack Russell nature, he's endlessly curious, and his keen sense of smell makes every walk a delightful sniff-fest.
He loves travelling around his rural foster home on the quad bike, as you can see in the video.
His recall is solid within the safety of a house yard, although it can be tested by the allure of the great outdoors.
He’s respectful of the resident horses and cattle.
He’s a super little guard dog, but only barks if there’s something to bark at - and when he barks, it’s limited to three woofs.
Buddy would be ideally suited to an active home where someone is around most of the time to give him the abundant love, companionship and stimulation this little chap needs. And if there's another FEMALE dog in the household, especially one that loves play and adventure as much as Buddy does, all the better!
He is definitely not suited to solitary life in the backyard. But speaking of backyards, he'd enjoy a spacious one.
As always, secure fencing is essential to prevent Buddy demonstrating the escape-artist tendencies for which Jack Russells are renowned.
If you're seeking a dynamic, courageous and friendly canine companion to bring joy and laughter into your home, Buddy might just be the perfect fit!
