About Brockie
Stocky Brockie is an aesthetic delight, with a big booty and a short snooty, he often attracts admirers commenting on his unique physique.
Adapting to life as a well loved pet was easy for this sweet lad. He has been affectionate, playful, and generally confident in the home since his first day in care. Taking a dog door in stride, Brockie can be home alone for up to six hours without issues, he is a super chiller and will take himself off to bed for a snooze if there’s no humans around to offer snuggles, but rest assured it’s party time when you return and he will greet you with a big helicopter tail and full body wiggles. Brockie’s foster carer says “my favourite thing about Brockie is absolutely his sweet, loving nature. He will bow his head and nestle it into your chest when you are down at his level. His capacity for love and companionship is pretty remarkable.”
Brockie is the ultimate couch potato, he would love a home with a backyard for zoomies and play, but big walks he could take or leave. In his foster home he goes for a short twenty minute walk a day around the local area, and enjoys a drive on the weekend to explore somewhere new and more exciting (although he will need you to give him a boost, getting into the car is still a work in progress). He doesn’t mind a longer walk on quiet trails or parks, and he is exceptionally well mannered on lead, doesn’t pull and is unbothered by the sights of cats or even other barky and excited dogs. He is social and polite with dogs of all sizes, although mostly opts to continue his walk rather than greet everyone he sees.
A very food motivated boy, Brockie has taken to stair training very well (working those big glutes!) but his nemesis remains the very scary elevator. He hasn’t been able to overcome his fear of this strange moving box, so for this reason an apartment home will not be suitable for him.
This polite and gentle boy has shown no signs of resource guarding or sleep startle, he’s a soft natured sweetheart who doesn’t ask for much, just a comfy corner of your couch - and all the cuddles that you have time to give!
Can live with full-time workers if there is some WFH
Cannot live with children under six
Cannot live with cats
Not suitable for an apartment

Thinking about adopting?
We’d love to help you find your greyhound match!
To get started, we’ll ask for a bit of information about your home and lifestyle on our application form. This helps us make sure we match you with a dog that suits your household and sets both of you up for success.
Many greyhounds come from racing kennels where they’re used to having other dogs around. Some can struggle being left completely alone, which can lead to signs of separation anxiety like barking or chewing.
Because of this, we usually look to rehome greyhounds into homes where they’ll have company - either human or canine - and not be left alone for more than four hours on a regular basis. If that’s not your setup right now, don’t worry as we’re happy to chat about options such as dog walkers, doggy daycare, or taking your greyhound to work.
Our Adoption Checklist:
To be considered for adoption, we ask that you have:
A secure, fully fenced yard (minimum height around hip height)
A home where the dog is allowed to sleep inside at night
A routine that doesn’t leave the dog home alone regularly for long periods (more than 4 hours) without people or another dog for company
If you’re not sure whether you tick every box, please still apply! We’re happy to have a conversation and see if we have a greyhound who might be the right fit.
Please fill in as much detail as you can as there’s no word limit on any question.
