About Elmo
Introducing ELMO of the Sesame Street Litter, nine adorable Maremma cross puppies born on 26 June 2025.
Elmo's mum, Penny, is a Maremma and although his dad is unknown, all the pups have magnificent wavy white or gold cream coats, suggesting that dad could be a Golden Retriever or similar.
Elmo has a sturdy build, broad head, and expressive eyes that melt the heart.
His thick double coat is not just for looks; it protects him well but requires regular grooming to maintain its lush appearance.
Elmo has an intelligent and calm nature that makes him an ideal companion for anyone seeking a gentle and easy-going furry friend, who understands the Maremma's need for a job, even if it’s just looking after his family, and their independent way of thinking.
Though he's not demanding when it comes to exercise, he thrives when given a chance to socialize with other pets and people, particularly children. He's simply the best playmate for kids and would make an exceptional addition to a family that values loyalty and affection.
Elmo's Maremma heritage means he's inherently protective of his loved ones, even from a young age. Expect him to be a little aloof with strangers for that is the Maremma way.
Preference will be given to homes committed to helping Elmo reach his full potential through early socialisation and training.
Prior Maremma or other large dog experience will be an advantage. As always, secure fencing is a must.
Elmo is offered for adoption under the terms of our Deferred Desexing Program, which means his adoption fee covers the cost of desexing when age appropriate, subject to terms and conditions.
If you are interested in meeting this lovely pup and can offer him a suitable, safe and loving forever home, PLEASE COMPLETE THE ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
