About Trooper
Meet this majestic boy Trooper, a four-year-old British Bulldog with a squishy face and an even softer heart.
Weighing in at 22.3kg and standing proudly at around 40cm tall, Trooper is every bit the charming, low, and slow companion you'd expect from his breed.
He came into care as a private surrender and has settled into his foster family's home with a quiet, snuggly impact from day one, settling in perfectly!
Trooper is the definition of a "low maintenance dog" when it comes to energy , he’s more sloth than sprinter and would much rather sprawl out on a comfy couch than break into a run.
He enjoys a gentle plod around the block every second day, though let’s be honest, his version of a walk is more of a leisurely waddle with plenty of sniff stops and side-eye stares at anyone daring to move too fast.
He’s definitely not your jogging buddy, but he’s perfect if you enjoy a slower pace and a short, sniff filled stroll.
Trooper is toilet trained, though he has his bulldog quirks, and will sometimes go to the toilet on the footpath or concrete when nature calls. He was reliably toilet trained in his previous home, and while he does have the occasional "lazy moment", it’s more about preference than confusion.
His current foster family don’t have a doggy door to test him with, and while he's okay in a crate if needed, Trooper is a couch-loving prince who believes plush cushions and warm laps were made just for him.
At nights, you’ll find Trooper happily curled up on one of his foster family's beds, no fuss, no drama, just a chunky cuddle buddy who wants to be close.
Trooper is wonderful with children of all ages, unfazed and gentle with little ones and older children alike.
He thrives around calm, predictable energy and enjoys simply being part of the family.
Around other dogs, Trooper is cool, calm, and collected! He gets along with dogs of all sizes and tends to follow the lead of the dogs around him.
Trooper often will try to initiate play, but his style can be a little bulldog brute-ish, which may come across as rough to more sensitive dogs, even though he doesn’t mean any harm.
Trooper could live happily as an only dog, but would equally enjoy the company of a doggy friend with a similar chilled out vibe.
Trooper is untested with cats or other small animals, so we can’t say for sure how he’d go, but his focus tends to be more on snacks, naps, and snuggles than chasing anything around.
Troopers' motivation in life is pretty simple: food and affection.
The rescue was advised when Trooper came into care that he does have a allergy with grain - we haven't tested that theory as didn't really want Trooper struggling - so we just feed him good quality dry food (no grain)
If you’ve got either in hand, you’ve already won him over.
He’s a quiet soul who rarely barks and is perfectly content, just being near his humans.
Trooper sleeps much of the day on the couch, occasionally lifting his head to make sure you haven’t gone too far, and then flops back into dreamland with a snore that’ll melt your heart.
Trooper has his little quirks, like any good bulldog, but it's all lovable quirks!
Trooper also took his sweet time learning how to navigate stairs at his current foster family’s home, but once he had a reason to (usually food or following the other dogs), he mastered them with slow determination. He’s not a fan of change or rushing, but with a bit of patience, Trooper always gets there in the end.
At his core, Trooper is a deeply affectionate, gentle boy who lives for cuddles, connection, and comfort. He’ll greet you with tail wiggles and nuzzle into your lap like a sleepy toddler.
Trooper is best suited to an indoor lifestyle, as he thrives when close to his humans and finds confidence in routine and familiar surroundings.
If you’re after a loyal shadow, a slow-paced soulmate, and a chunky cuddle bug with a slightly dramatic flair, Trooper might just be your perfect match. He’s got a heart as squishy as his chubby cheeks and is ready to find a family who’ll treasure him for exactly who he is, a loving, slightly lazy, totally loveable bulldog looking for his happily ever after.
Are you Troopers perfect match and his future forever home?
